• 2 Stroke Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Italy - About 1989 to 2014
    WR = 2st Enduro & CR = 2st Cross

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc EZ as 1,2,3,4,5 to make wr250/300 king of the class!

People are going to complain no matter what. If they make all these improvements and the bike costs $2000 more, people will just complain about that.

For example, on the last page some guy had a long list of complaints. I don't have a problem with 3/4 of the things he complained about. Clutch? It's fine. Rear brake? Fine. Stock tires? Who cares, everybody likes different tires anyway. Oh, and many of them are plated, at least in the US. Brake and shift levers? They are fine for me, what more do you want? etc...

I agree with Kyle. People are programed to complain in this day and age. Hey, if you don't like the Husky, 'Move On' and buy a KTM or GasGas. I like the fact that my WR was cheaper and I could fix it the way I wanted. I've owned a KTM and I did all the same stuff to that bike also. For that matter, both of my KTM's required a ton of little tweaks to make them right. Sure, a few updates are need to the Husky line up but lets not write them off. Again, you have choices and if you don't like this one, buy something else!

I'm not callin anybody out, but I can totally agree with you and I'd like to go for a ride with these guys who have so many complaints about this bike. Ive owned Hondas, Yamahas, KTMs, Suzukis, BMWs, Aprilias, and Huskys and I could find something to complain about with every single model but thats the way it is with bikes. Personalize, add performance mods, make the bike fit you, tailor the suspension to your weight and riding needs, etc. Thats part of the fun of owning a motorcycle.
Just puttin it out there...Anyone want to come ride with me on my WR out here in Eastern PA on some great single track, cmon up. Show me how poor this model is. And by no means am I trying to say Im that great of a rider.
I will agree whole-heartedly on one aspect of my WR. The suspension out of the box is "ok", but show me a rider who's somewhat serious about riding or racing who hasnt done anything to his stock suspension.

Husky has a lot of things that could use improvement on this bike.

1. stock shifter sucks

2. stock brake pedal sucks.

3. rear brake sucks. Use the bigger rotor and master cylinder/reservoir from the rest of the lineup.

4. exhaust sucks.

5. forks suck.

6. vibration sucks.

7. footpegs suck.

8. shrouds suck.

9. carb questionable.

10. tires suck. it's not street legal, why not give us good tires like the MX bikes come with?

11. clutch sucks.

12. excessively tall and overweight.

13. it looks like a 20 year old bike with newer plastic, which is essentially what it is. compare it to a yz250 which has been mostly unchanged since 2005.

If it were 1995 this bike would be cream of the crop. It's not, in my opinion it needs more work than I have patience for. It's 2013 and they have a lot of catching up to do with the other manufacturers. I expect to do some tweaking to any bike to get it set up for my preferences, but I'll spend more for a bike that works better out of the box and doesn't leave me feeling like they put it together out of the 'old stock' parts bin.

It is a decent woods bike but it could be SO much better.

I bought a new one and sold it with 3 hours on it. Unlike my CR125 I was really unimpressed with it.

Put this engine in the X-lite chassis and I'd likely feel completely different about it.
Lets try an experiment. Go buy a KTM 500 for just under $10000 and see if theres anything on the bike you dont like. Sell your Husky to someone on this forum who likes Huskys.

I dont feel at all attacked. Im just confused on a husky forum to find husky bashing. If your intent is to get a voice out there and hope BMWvarna heard you and makes improvements, then you have some valid points.
As forums go, and my experience with them, there are many people out there who are interneticly brilliant and all knowing (yes i made up that word). I dont know you from Joe, but that is why I made an offer to come out and ride. Number one, you might put me in my place and show me the error of my ways. Or... You might not. Either way, its a great excuse to go out and ride

All bikes take a little attention to detail to adjust to what fits you.My Husky 300 now really works and I have zero complains for what I have invested in it.Make a list of what you want to change and there are companies out there that have the parts to custom change your bike. When you are finished you will still have less in your bike then a new bike from another company. No one has ever complained about the motor
so custom build around that and you will have a great bike. The bike in stock trim is great but you can make it better to fit your needs
You know when husky comes out with a new bike gone will be the cheap price

newer aint always better. somethings just work and work darn good. this old 250/ "newish" 300 format's a proven platform. it's had some issues, so has EVERY bike, and it's had some updates too. its also by far the best handling, easiest to tune and service. it's NOT heavy, i can huck it no sweat, its light for as well as it's built and it also lasts a damn long time and parts are one phone call away w/ the most bitchen dealer network you could ever hope to ask for, ever. i like the tucked brake pedal, pretty smart. and there's little if any vibes. i'm 53, busted up and barely 5'6" and it dont feel "too tall" to me for a modern bike. the 5-sp box aint a handicap either because these motors have good beans everywhere change the CS and yer in. if anyone else made a bike this darn good out of the box for under 5k$ that made riding shty trails easy i'd buy that one too, today because my tough guy days are over and i need a bike that carries me for once. but no one does. cept Husqvarna. if its good enough for Lette at Romaniacs and HG etc. it's plenty good enough for me.

Under 5 K? That's a smokin' deal. I bought my leftover 2011 on a leftover closeout deal for under 6 K, but it originally retailed for nearly seven grand.

i gota feeling '13 'll be the last year for these super low priced left overs if they change all the formats as rumored. gettum while theyre hot boys. i got mine and ill never sell this motorcycle. 'porky' be the dadingdingdingdading baroooop! easy to ride arm stretchin' bomb.

I looked at a new Husaberg TE300 at our local dealer last Saturday, $9675.00 not including freight and PDI. I paid $5500.00 + 5% tax.. for my new WR300, That's a lot of left over coin. pvduke's laughin all the way to the bank on his deal

002.JPG muwahahaha muwahahahaha...(dr evil laugh driving away from Tri-County Powersports with yet another smoking deal from them in the truck). this things so stupid easy to ride my granny could do it...perfect offroad motor.

I don't think it's a mass husky bashing but more so the passion of the owners of this brand! I've written a topic on this before and have been attacked for detracting of the brand in the brand's website (wish BMW-Husqvarna would make cafehusky offical) but let me say that it's all about wanting your husky to be both commercially appealing at the same time of easing that little fear that the new parent company still has the big bore 2t in it's future - our 4 stroke brothers are receiving upgrades quicker than a fast food drive through but what about our 250-300's?

As for making these passionate appeals on cafehusky...as a few of the aussie boy's can a test too...this is like KTMtalk where you can discuss your husky without the usual 'Oh it's a husky, trade it in' or 'If you own a husky, don't come riding with us cos we don't want to tow you out' (ignorant pricks!!), yet you don't get many(hardly) ktm or other brand rubbishing in the posts l read -and that is a commendation to the cafehusky site and it's members!!

Yeh valid points. Well Im gonna race the WR this year and will contemplate a new race bike for 2014. Will be interesting to see if the DI 2t comes out next year and what it will be like. Everybodys entitled to their own opinion but i suppose im just baffled cuz I love my WR

K5PL5...wouldn't care if the 2014 was DI or not (seems like a lectron or AP can cure that), just move the new frame from the 125/150 up through the 2t model!!

PS. Good luck racing and l know you'll race the WR with pride!!

LoL...you and me both!!! Once l've straighten out a WR250 frame, do a motor swap (250 to 360), plastics and both bike's suspension serviced, the lectron is the next mod

PS. You can all stuff your WR300 where it fits......l want a new model WR360****************************************

Ive had many huskys over the years, and some how i always endup getting another one.. If my 99 wr 250 wasn't stolen id have never replaced it and kept her forever. When i first bought my 07 wr 250 it had to be completley rebuilt from the ground up due to PO being a complete dick when it came to maintenance. But i got her cheap and even now she nearly finished it as still cost me less than my ktm 300.
