• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well it all started with a friends 2005 bmw 650 gs wind screen that had some deep scratches in it from a crash, he did not want it so he gave it to me. After sanding the scratches out I cut it down twice in till I was happy, lexan I think. Got a plate of 1/8 inch alum and made a frame to fasten to where the turn signals go and another bracket to the 4 screws up front that hold the black & white plastic on. First road test with great results today.....no buffeting @75 mph and stops most of that front end weaving with the wind smoother around the my body. I have zeta hand guards that will replace TT ones ...they have the LEDs turn signals built in them and fat bars/risers. And I can mount driving lights to the side brackets if needed at later date....this mod is shaping into a good lite rally style fair...cost $40. Should i paint it white or black? And with big husky logo

Nice Job. I really like the plate you have mounted above the stock dash. That opens up some possibilities,..

About that front end weaving thing, rode mine for the first time without my homemade windscreen (obliterated in crash). I could feel that little wiggle in the front at about 75. Don't remember that from pre-crash performance.
I could feel more wind beating on my chest for sure but are you saying it is more than just a comfort thing?
BTW, nice job on yours. As to the paint color, looks pretty good in black to me.

Yes more than comfort. It must move some air around upper body better. When the tire were new , did not notice the weave than...added TT guards not a big change also. Now I am running with Zega pros so weighted rear wheel some more. I will get all my gear in panniers then adj suspension. The sahari tire have 1300 miles on them...TT hand guard act as rudders with the wind gusts..I assume so I got some smaller zeta guards. Just like hang gliding if you are heavy handed( pushing down) on the base tube/handle bars @ high speeds osolations...will start. In a tuck on tr all is well. If you tuck in a hang glider it may be your last mins on earth.

I will post pics of all brackets in a couple of weeks....hope to get motosportz bar risers than start wiring

I'd like to see some pics of those Zega Pros!

31 liters pros! That plenty of space with roll bag on top. Thinking of building 2 custom 1-1/4 gal alum tanks off of passenger pegs on top of them or safari tank if that ever comes around! Weight up front would balance bike better if loaded down with gear.

New handgaurds...pro bend zeta with integrated turn signals and oxford heated grips. Maybe some extra lights I did pre wire for them.

Where do you mount your Dakota now? Also, glad to see high mileage TR650s on the road. I told a buddy today I hope to keep mine 10-15 years, had it since new and only have 11k on it. You put me to shame :)

I dont use the montana anymore! Iphone in tankbag if needed. Yes 38,880 may try to take it to 50,000. Re-sprayed all black plastics on bike....sun faded. Red and white panels still look good. 650 sticlers are shrinking lengthwise.

His Montana is mounted on the bars............... of my bike.

Your bike looks good in white. Thinking maybe a vinyl wrap on the red side panels...white with husky (H) in red.
Though about selling this summer...will keep a tad longer.
