  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FI Fuel Pump Mod

A small amount of 2 stroke oil in the fuel can make a huge difference in the life of these pumps. The sound the pump makes will change significantly with the lubrication.

Just wanted to share my take on this thread after I had to change the fuel pump on my 08 TE 610.

I ordered the fuel pump from ca-cycleworks (FP-HUS-F) based upon the recommendations from this thread. To my surprise the new black pump View attachment 70449 does fit the holster but its shoulder is slightly higher than the shiny OEM unit. Thus it was impossible to securely engage the locking tabs of the holster over the shoulders. The kit did include a mice stainless steel hose clamp that squeezed the tabs around the pump, but I ended up using some Nichrome wire (I couldn't find stainless steel safety wire) to cerclage the pump in the holster. I didn't feel that I had to insulate the wire because the positive lead to the pump has a pretty stout insulated coverView attachment 70448

The Duralast FF3330DL fuel filter was actually quite a bit smaller than the OEM one. I found a different model (Duralast FF3401DL/WIX 33012/IMG_7509.JPGIMG_7510.JPGIMG_7517.JPGIMG_7520.JPG FRAM G2S) that was exactly the same size as the OEM with 5/16" ends. The submersible fuel line was available at O'Reilly's Auto Parts, but they wanted $23 for a 12 inch piece! I used fuel injection clamps of the hose connections. The finished result worked like a charm!

Looks good. That pump is not going to go anywhere.

Where did you get the flex hose on top?

You will note the stock pump has a 1/4 outlet and the stock filter a 1/4" inlet.

The cycleworks pump has a 5/16 outlet.

The flex hose is part of the kit from cycle works and it matched the size of the pump outlet and filter inlet
