First ride on the WR125

I saw a window of opportunity as the weather warmed up a bit(8deg C) and thought I would run the bike over to the shop and see how it feels..though I dont recommend this behaviour ie.. riding on the road with no plates etc....it was just a few blocks....and not trying to attract to much attention....I took it very easy....just to see how it felt

Also it was supposed to drop down to -20 that evening(it did)....hence..the window of opportunity...

Incidentally...the bike was very fat on the jetting as I found out...and also running at 4% premix(break in)....though I never really got into the throttle..I knew right away that it would not pull itself clean through the middle....it was fine on the pilot though..so I lowered the needle one step...and when I rode home it was pretty good.....

Nice, reminds me of breaking in my 07, minus the snow obviously.
Can't wait to see some videos of the trails out there.
Have you considered mounting the GoPro on the mouthpiece, my buddy does it that way and the angles are near perfect.

Oh man thats a great angle I will have to try that ****************************************! The Go Hero noise filter makes a scratchy sound when the sound level is low(normal) but its just right when your hauling butt !!!

I watched the whole thing and was trying to get a perspective. Seems like you got a good start and passed for quite a while. 2 or 3 guys passed you but didn't seem to get too far off. So what was I seeing, you passing a group that started ahead and getting passed by a few guys from a class behind or what.?

You said you moved the needle down to 3rd. from top even though you're running 4% mix and being so cold (more air).
What's your elevation there?
I thought for sure you had er figured with everyone else having hesitations in mid-throttle?

It was my buddy riding not me... I'm on a husky****************************************
TO clarify...He did get a good start and yes he was passing the class ahead, the few guys who passed him though were competitors from his class, the two that finished ahead, he got 3rd in 250 C.

If the red and blues were following me...I would have turned my attention to "the testing of the main circuit mode" :devil: (kidding)

It did make a small change at set up..which actually went against me...and I ended up back at the 3rd notch....could have gone one more but..I never ran it up into "the zone" and got the plug hot enough... elev 3600ft roughly here

Other things I have noticed....when I put in 4L of break in mix....I went back to lock the garage door..and turned around and half the fuel was on the ground!!!....the float level was incorrect...it takes a few minuites to sort that out... Keep an eye on that Dave......When I bought my TC last year it was doing the same thing on downhills and jumps...and would quit....and what a bugger to restart.....

I think that spring loaded float needle throws those guys off at the factory...????

On the float height... Harvey at Bottone's had me pull the float and needle and blow the carb out when I was installing carb kit. He thinks the problem is a small amount of plastic debris from the new tank, can jam the needle open. I did double check float height and mine was good, no leaking fuel.

I didn't exactly "blow out the carb" but I did dismantle everything
just to check it out "needle valve and seat."

Also flushed out all the old gas (If you can call it that) from the tank.

I mistakenly left the fuel on one day and the next all was fine started right off.

I'll keep an eye on things just to be safe.

Yes I did that Norm.......I drained the residual fuel out of the tank before I brought the bike inside....when I dismantled the carb..I removed the float and needle and blew the passage clean before I installed it.....its just one of those deals....it only leaked fuel when on the side stand...so it wasnt stuck.....just slightly high


by the way..what was that fuel in the tank from the factory...??? smelt wild...... like rocket propelant or something....????

I think he was yelling "yo" but it just sounds really funny, a lot of people have been teasing him about that.
Don't know if there is a certain word or phrase to use, I normally rev my engine and yell hey if they don't respond.

Why not just hook up a horn...or would that be to simple.

that course was faaast, that is some good video. Sometimes you just don't know if they don't hear you or if they try to race with you,,it can be frustrating, he did really well threading though every one. good stuff,,,,,,now wheres the Husky vid!!!
