• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Fishing personal best

today went well, water temps are up in the high 60s to low 70s in spots. first kelp patty we found,,,@25-30 miles out from SD Bay,,,,,,,,,,cast out a live sardine on a 6/0 mutu (red),,,,bendo!!! For a very nice 15LB Bull Dorado/Mahi Mahi/dolphinfish. Saw a nice Mako working the same zone and tried to chum him in but no joy, except we watched him shoot straight up out of the water right next to the kelp patty he was a good 5 footer. We saw in no special order hundreds of dolphins/porpoise in huge pods,,a small group of pilot whales or one of those type of dolphins, seals everywhere and caught also, sculpin, rock fish, tree fish (biggest one I have caught). we left at 6 got home at 6. we made a big loop around the coronado islands. It was a bitchen day of fishin hooky from work. I will now prep the mahi mahi for din din****************************************!

No fishing personal best here; just nice temps and breezes along with clear cool water, while I tried out my new (I bought it over a couple of years ago, just didn't use it) float tube. The fish had lockjaw, but we had picnic lunch and a relaxed day at almost 7000 ft.

Hey, nice floaty thing! I need one of those:D

I could use some flippers for my shoes, too

Looks like a nice way to spend an afternoon, although I'd rather be splashing around in the water scaring all the fish away. I never liked going fishing with my dad when I was younger because all I wanted to do was play in the water but he wouldn't let me. Seems like a waste of good water to me...

I think that they were already all scared away.:excuseme::D And sadly, the website for the lake said that among it's many activities, swimming was allowed, but after we drove 105 miles there were "no swimmimg" signs up all around the lake.:censored:

Looks to me like you have all the fun!
Are you set up with gear you can carry on the bikes? I haven't looked at what is available for qute a while.

Of course.:D I have a 4wt. four piece fly rod, a 5 piece ultralight spinning rod and a 4 piece medium heavy triggerstick. Also planning to get the Hawkeye handheld portable sonar/fishfinder. Lots of travel rods and other items at Cabelas.

I am just going to have to look into that. My summer travels to Idaho and Montana get me to some real good fishing spots. In the past I have always been in such a hurry to cover more ground, but I think it's time to slow down and smell the water.

Any of you fish out there in Huskyland? I'll bet you do. I like to fish, too and I am always trying to get just one more or just one bigger fish. A couple of weeks ago I had one of the best fishing days ever so far, so I am going to share this post with you.

That was a huge bass.Probably equivalent to a 10 pounder in my neck of the woods. Fishing is almost as satisfying as riding a motocycle except I've never had a bad day fishing but dirt riding is a different story. It's hard for people to believe but the adrenaline is about the same. Good post Dirtdame.
