• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Folding tip shifter

I want a folding shift lever, so read through this and are no further ahead. Has anyone found a folding tip with same dims as OE?...and the Touratech one is poop IMO.

I picked up a lever out of a bargain bin online. I'm having trouble finding the exact model but this is the description on the email... MCS BRAND GEAR LEVER LONG BENT FITS HONDA/YAMAHA PN FG4
Item number 131414167420. Does a 13mm spline sound right? I found the spline size somewhere on here a while back. Need to check this.
It did need a slight bend to shape it properly, but that's easily done. $22 delivered
Has worked flawlessly for many km now.

Great do you have a link to the site please? When I put the part number into Google all I get is this thread:banghead:

Looks like it's the 11mm spline. (Again, check this because I'm not sure) It's no longer advertised where I got mine. I did find this though...

Google. Norside.com.au mcs gear shift lever. They have a catalogue pic there. #FG4

Just a quick suggestion. I bought the universal yamaha shifting lever from german louis webshop.
Was 10€ and fits perfectly after slightly bending it (steel).
And yes, it's foldable.

Greetings,

Flo

yes it is.

Sure, you won't get the shiny aluminium stuff with anodized finish, but I like a steel one more for durability.

Greetings

When I was looking for a shifter I heard that one from a YZ250 would fit.

I was looking to fit some larger MX boots so to that end I bought a Hammerhead folding tip shifter since you can add "longer" shifter tips. The Hammerhead "fit" but required a good bit of banging with a hammer to achieve the fit I was looking for. Now the tip is angled instead of straight but since it is a folding tip I can mod it to be straight by using some of the folding travel.
