• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I've always wanted to build a "Frankenstein Bike" (Best parts from many years to build a Monster!) A friend has a 1978 Maico frame with a 1981 490 Maico engine, forks and swingarm. This is supposed to be the best combination Maico GP/Evo bike.

I'm thinking about doing a Swedish version or "Franzenstein Bike". What do you guys think would be the best frame, motor, suspension combos?

my personal (Franzenstein bike) is a 1986 430ae chassis with a 1986 xc swingarm 1984 400wr with a 430 topend and a complete (wheel and all)2001 showa frontend w/ applied triple clamps from a honda cr250. sorry no pics. but its a pretty clean unit.

Funny on the 500/4 as the stock motor probably made more power and weighed a quarter the weight.

Mattskn, I'll take some pics this weekend. its also street legal. new york tag and inspection. the perks of working for a dealership and friends @ DMV. I also have a 1985 250CR with the entire ass end (wheel ,swingarm, shock and subframe) from a 1987 250XC. that one is a clean unit also ,but needs a new left sidepanel (excessive heat made it very brittle).

510 KSI-HVA !

Wow guys! I was just thinking about putting 1983 forks and an 18" rear wheel on a 79 250CR and lowering the suspension to 10.5".

This stuff is crazy! (keep it coming) :applause:

You guys are making me seriously think about getting restarted on my 390 CR project bike... the dustpile ( 390 CR) in the corner of my garage shop doesn't even bother to cry my name when I walk by right now it has been so long since I have held it or touched it ...

3 months of Little league baseball and girls softball seasons left... 4 practices per week + games on saturday and sunday..... + piano lessons and swim lessons ...home work and school projects = 2 very active kids...

How do you guys find the free time to do all of this stuff?

TR - I have all of this ( exact same conversion) sitting in my garage waiting for the time and money to finish it right..... just when you have a great idea of where you want to go, someone comes along and does something even better than the last guy and you sit there scratching your head reanalyzing your entire project...

Keep up the good work all of you... Very inspiring!!!

Husky T- no kids or pets. BTW, missed a decent race at Glen Helen plus I got to meet T-R and see his fab-u-lous stock/barn-find '78 250 CR (ohhh, the memories...)

My father had a very simple approach to making sure he could do the things he like to do. He simple went ahead and did them and he made sure to bring the kids along. He loved mt climbing. From age 6 on I was mt climbing every week end. In the winter he loved skiing. from age 3 on I was skiing every weekend. Not much little league, or basket ball or that sort of thing was done in our house. If it got in the way of climbing or skiing ... it didn't get done!!
