  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Fuel additives in a 2008 sm510r...

Hey all, just wondering if anyone uses any additives like Lucas oil products or injector cleaner in their bikes?

I use the Lucas products in my vehicles (supposed to protect valves, rings and injectors).

What say you? I'm thinking just stay straight gas but figured I would ask!

I run Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant. Not noticed any changes, but I figure with the lack of lubricating properties in today's fuel it must help.

Hmm, no other responses on this one eh. I use the injector cleaner and oil additive stuff in my '93 Nissan pickup, but have yet to put it my bikes. Cannot really say it has done anything different. Only an inspection of internal parts before use and after could tell me that.

But you know it is used by some in the dirty world when you have events with this title "Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship."

If I were to use Lucas in my bike it would be a fuel additive, but even then probably not. Not saying it is bad, just not needed in my opinion. Same on the oil side of things.

Word(s) for thought.

I throw in a little bit of two stoke oil with every tank full. As stated above, upper end lubrication cant be a bad thing, and I'm mot putting in enough 2t oil to effectively alter to AF ratio, and there's no visible smoke or oil deposits in the exhaust.

Yeah, yeah I have read here and there about a lot of people doing this to keep the top end

Been meaning to ask the mechanic about this i.e., how much, alternatives, etc.

George said he's used Marvel Mystery Oil for years. Many others use it. I use it.

4 oz for 10 gal. At least occasionally.
