I just purchased a 2009 TE310 with 500 miles. It was a demo bike that I bought thru a dealership. The dealer had removed the throttle stop and installed the unrestricted air filter cage. However, the O2 sensor and the Cat converter were never taken off. They also tweaked the EFI setting to make it run better.
Let me first say.. the bike runs Great! I had to increase the idle speed up from 1600 to about 1750 to stop the occasional pops and flame-outs just off idle. But now, the bike's performance is absolutely awesome! The power is great at all RPMs. The throttle is smooth and responsive. I'm really happy that I bought this bike.
Here's my question... Will removing the O2 sensor & cat converter and installing the Lambda sensor connector really make a big improvement in power? I know that I will need to take it to the dealership to have the EFI remapped. But I'm curious what other people think.... Will it really be worth it? Will it give me a noticeable seat-of-the-pants power gain?
