  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Gas tank ?

Husqvarna
AA Class
I have a 2008 TE 250 with a power up kit on it. I am looking to purches a bigger tank. I am looking between a 2.5 gal. O.E.M tank or a 3 gal. IMS tank. I want to know what tank would be the better one to buy.

depends, does size matter? (sounds funny I know)

Is cost your main motivator?

Both tanks are fine form a quality. The OEM is Acerbis and probably will cost you more than the IMS by a fair amount.

Where have you seen a 2.5gal for an 08 TE? I haven't seen the hard parts catalog in a long while.

I think for the 08 they originally just had the 3.0 IMS. Have no clue if there really is a 2.5 for the FI bikes like yours. I seem to be remembering they were for 2 ST models. Safari is just shipping ($500) 4.0 gal tanks for FI bikes that remount the pump to get nearly all the gas from the tank

There is one for the 2T and this one listed in the Husky parts catalog

11.5 liters = 3.0379786 US gallons

The one pictured above is the IMS tank re-sold/badged by Husky. Your better off getting it direct from IMS. You'll receive it faster and it'll probably be cheaper.

Just upgraded the tanks on our 2009 TE310 and TE510. Both with the IMS 3.0 gal (believe would be the same tank for your bike.) Working out great so far. Have tested the fuel range and low-fuel light comes on and off about 115 miles (for 510 - a little later for 310) and stayed on for quite some time. At about 125+ mile we dumped in another 30 oz (were carrying extra fuel just in case) and finally ran out at just over 140 miles. Great range as far as I'm concerned.

The fit wasn't bad. One tank would not fit the 510 at all but fit OK on the 310. The other tank fit great on the 310 and fit OK on the 510. So we were able to get OK fit for both bikes. Probably combo of 7% variance on the tank and slilghtly off 510 frame.

Purchased our tanks from JustGasTanks.com and they were great. Highly recommend purchasing these tanks and from them. Hope this helps.

I don't mean to crap on this parade, but I purchased an IMS 3.0 from justgastanks as well for my 08 450. The fittment sucked. Ended up having to cut the plastic seat pan notch where it snaggs the tank nipple. It never did sit on the bike straight either, big gap over one shroud and grinding a bit on the other. I couldent keep it from leaking fuel between the fuel pump and the tank either. Turns out it was warped so the o-ring wouldn't seal.

To shine a little light on this parade, justgastanks was great about getting it replaced, as was IMS. No problems their at all. Guess Im just not too thrilled on how it looks or fitts.

My first ims tank was also warped at the fuel pump just gas tanks sent me another. It has been great ever since fits ok. I can live with it for the price and extra range. Besides you dont see it while your riding.

I just bought one today from just gas tanks for my TE450-10 with their tank shrouds as well, hope it bloody fits ok, (not warped).:jawdrop::censored:

So far my only complaint with the bike is the size of the tank. Sounds like i should get 125miles with the 3.0 gal tank no worries.:applause:
