• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Gearing Recommendations for 630 SMS

Interestingly enough, opening up the air box and using a JD Tuner on the SM did not close the gap between the SM and TE (before air box moide and JD Tuner) ecu's below 4k rpm for me.

It would be nice to know if the Arrows ECU changes more than just fuelling, eg if it changes ignition timming inter alia as well because then the Arrows kit would justify itself.

OK, interesting. Sorry, I don't know exactly what changes the Arrow ECU made from a technical perspective and no explanatory info came with the kit. I'm sure both setups you are considering would work well though.

Can be 42 rear sprocket on SM used with stock chain?
40 is about the limit with stock chain. However, if you go with a 14 t front a 41 t rear will fit. Why not try a 14 t front first? It may yield the results you are looking for and is cheaper and easier to replace.

I'm plz help I just bought a 2011 husqvarna sms630 I don't know what this hose is coming from the tank is it sapose to be hook up sum where plz help its bothering me ?

Fuel tank vent, it just needs to be open to atmosphere. I put on a longer hose and ran it under the motor.

Thank you I was worried my engine kinda sound like a little ticking noise I just change the oil it only has 1400 Kim's on
Ticking might be a swell only 1400kms on it is this a normal sound very light ticking

It's a large single cylinder with big valves, it's going to have some valvetrain noise.

Has the valve clearance ever been checked on it? It's probably time for the first check if it hasn't.

I don't think it has been checked yet the guy who owned the bike seamed real anal about his things so he may of had them chequed I appreciate your responses.

you will probably want a 42 like i said i am using a 43 and anything over 112 is getting real high into the rpms. It does not take much to get to that speed while your kane'in on it.

HOW CAN YOU HIT 112!!???? I have the p/u kit installed AND the twin titanium arrows w/ECU from special parts catalog, a supersprox Stealth 42t rear sprocket..... AND MY BIKE ELECTRONICALLY CUTS OFF @ 109mph!!! PLEASE LEMME KNOW HOW TO GET RID OF THAT!!??

If the difference between the TE and SMS ecus is primarily mapping as suggested earlier in thread, why can't the difference be made up with a Powersurge or powercommander with appropriate gearing mods?

So to re-enlighten this thread, I am going to order a 43t rear sprocket and a 14t front one. Someone any idea how much links I need extra? Also the JDtuner is ordered...

The bike was run in stock form for the run in period of 1000km. At the first service the dealer fitted the Arrow pipes and ECU, without the DB killers and tuned it with IBeat. This transformed the power delivery - smooth idle, much more power and torque throughout the rev range, including right off idle. I was very happy with it in this trim... until I read the JD thread on this forum... and it sounded like I was misimg out on a very cost effective improvement.

The JD was fitted at the 4000km service and the bike accelerates and revs noticeably harder now, although the improvement is not as much as I'd expected after reading the JD thread. This may be because I haven't modified the air box yet, whereas most others have.

The only downsides with the JD are it now has a slight hesitation when rolling off the throttle and on again and the fuel consumption has increased, but these are minor and worth the trade off for the performance gain.

I am not in a position to comment regarding the impact of the JD on an Arrow ECU vs standard ECU, but suspect that whatever improvements came with the Arrow ECU were modified by the JD, so the stock ECU plus JD may work just as well.

Regards,
Russ

take setting red down lower on jd tuner. that will help that stumble, chop throttle hesitation alot

let me rephrase. it's actually red/blue. reduce the number to fix stumbles/throttle chop hesitation. im at 2 at it works great. super smooth now.
