  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Generic clutch and brake levers and perches

Picklito

Husqvarna
Pro Class
What are y'all using for an inexpensive clutch/brake lever set? Want some generics to temporarily run on my 81/82 430's while the 'real' pieces are getting gathered up. Thanks.

I run the Pro Taper low profile on my bike and I love it .... fully adjustable ... as for the price I didn’t think it was too bad.

Ha Ha. Perhaps you have not yet fully realized what a cheap-@$$ Picklito really is? I'm looking at eBay copies. Used to use Sunline but they seem to be long gone.

I had a set of “moose “ levers and perched on my cr430 for a while but when I rebuilt the lower end I had a longer clutch arm placed on the engine then had clutch issues . Felt ok when cold but as the engine warmed up had a lot of clutch drag . Placed a magura assembly on the bars for the clutch and back to normal . The moose lever and perch was for a Honda . I do have an extended front brake arm on the wheel for better leverage and the same moose set were ok on that .

EMGO has a pair for around $20/25. The correct OEM Magura (split perch) run about $80 a pair - new.

There was an in-depth article in the Husky Newsletters that explained the pivot placement / mechanical advantage / stroke / etc. of a Magura and how many problems that people comment on in regard to bad brake feel and clutch not working can be attributed to levers other than a Magura.

The typical Honda/Honda copies are nice, but can be a little short on cable pull for the clutch. EMGO is one I was thinking of but I couldn't remember that name! Thanks.

I'll post a report. Could have the clutch drag as mentioned above. These are definitely 'ol skool' clutches. If we could install a fishing reel at the end of the cable they'd work great!
