  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

juicy you got pulled for standing up? I did too! I was riding from verwood to portland island so my arse was aching, on a downhill stretch I stood up, then see the lights, pull over, officer says why do you think I stopped you? I actually didn't know, so I said, um, because of the type of bike? It probs looks like it's not road legal. And he said, no, you stood up. And I said yes I've been riding for two hours on a very hard seat. He said you're not in control of the bike, don't do it, and I said well I am, because mx and nduro riders are almost constantly stood up. He didn't like that, my logical side overtook the YOU NEED TO BE SUBMISSIVE HE COULD FINE YOU!

Same but i said i was practicing my slow speed control for enduros they seemed interested and held convo for a few mins untill something over radio came in and sped off, didnt even say bye!

they were probably bikers too then, if I get pulled again for it I may nick your excuse! Or I'm practicing my balance for the stupid amount of slow speed traffic round here :D

have'nt been done for the number plate thing yet gaz, but maybe i've just been lucky, i've seen loads of bikes of all shapes and sizes with number plates that are the size of postage stamps
and just recently the coppers had a crackdown on people with tinted visors on they're helmets, as if there's not more important things to police????
or maybe because bikers and motorists are easy targets they're bumping up they're quotas for fines to fill the police funds

Unfortunately the police, as bad as some of them are, are really only doing what they get told to, it's the upper class ones in charge that make them go out to catch people on purpose, yes it is to gain statisctics to make themselves look better but my grandad's friend just retired from the force and has told me he refused to use speed guns on people, especially from hidden places because he didn't believe they were always accurate and it could be seen as sneaky [guy on a fireblade was speeding on a straight carrigeway, likely well over 100 mph, saw camera van parked up, braked so hard the front locked, he went over the central reservation, died from impact, so were it not for the van, he would have lived. So for stattistics a young girl has now lost her dad. The prob too is this government wants to cut everything whilst still giving so many billions away they have to cut NHS and the police because they can't afford to do both [don't get why they paid our money for malasian police force to set up new units yet take away our police's budget by 25%? And it all gets blamed on speed, when actually speed, of any kind, is perfectly safe, up to a point, it's all about where it's safe to USE that speed, ie, 100 in a 30mph zone, flipping dangerous, 150 mph on a blade at 2am lit motorway, perfectly safe

I have a postage stamp numberplate and been pulled for standing up no mention of tiny show plate! Score

 like standing on the bike (As in not sitting on the bike)

what is their problem
standing up gives you a far better way of control over the bike (enduro cross bike)

I stand about 90% of the time on my bike while driving

is it forbidden by a law in England??

Robert-Jan

No law against it just the police are suspicious of everything.
Theyre trained to be, i know about control i mean how many trial riders sit down?

illegal in AUS too. they say you dont have full control of bike if youre standing. wank
wow. i knw every country has their problems but geez. are you guys allowed tinted visors?? here its illegal to not have some eye protection while riding, which is a good rule, but never heard anything about tint.

imagine how privileged I feel by living in Cambodia:banana:

for sure this is not paradise but for riding bikes not far of it.

The features of your riding regulations is far far from here for a long time to come.

Not aloud to stand on a off the road motor for the sake of control is the most stupid thing I heard, on a crotch rocket I agree with this statement.

Robert-Jan

there's not actual law saying we can't stand up on the road, but there is discretion, if the cop THINKS you're riding in a dangerous manner or not in control of the vehicle he can issue you with a fine and points on your licence, or they give you a 'section 59' basically a ticket, then if you get stopped and ANOTHER cop or the same one thinks you're doing something anti social THEY CAN TAKE YOUR BIKE AWAY AND CRUSH IT! Just by two coppers being arsey! And no, we aren't allowed tinted visors if they only let a certain amount of light through, depending on the time of day too, same as if you drive a car with tinted windows, police have got a thing that measures the amount of light, and if it's not enough they make you rip it off the window before being allowed to drive on. I was doing 40mph on my old sachs with my mate riding beside me, blue lights behind us, mate stops, I carry on then stop, cop comes up to me on foot and says YOU THINK YOU'RE COOL RACING LIKE THAT? I said what? We werent racing at all! He said he thought we were and we could be getting section 59's for being anti social...yes, we were going above the speed limit a BIT, but we weren't racing, racing implies going flat out to win, we were just riding above the limit.

No! I am the world's angriest man! I demand to have some jaffa cakes! yeah ok I'm fine, funniest thing is coming home earlier i had to stop to let a police car with blue lights come out the station, he WHEELSPAN as he pulled out! a lot! I demand he be given a section 59 for anti social driving or breach of the peace!

Yeh afraid its one law for them and if your odd of getting pulled over comes up then its another for you.
Just dont back chat or stab them is all im gunna say, oh and dont just carry on riding unless your real good rider and have a superbike under your ass.
