    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Giant Loop Mounting Points?

I'm thinking about picking up a Giant Loop Coyote and Fandango and was curious about where people are anchoring the straps. This is for my TE630. I contacted Giant Loop with some questions about heat shields and they gave me one guy's example. I'm not sure who this is, but here you go...

In the first photo, the bags are unstrapped, but you can follow the dirt trail to the anchor point on the right side.

On the left side, he has it anchored to a heat shield mount.

I was thinking I could do something similar, use the passenger peg mounting points, or the passenger peg brackets themselves. I'd rather not put the passenger pegs back on my bike if I can help it.
 
I bought those bags, and have the same problem, figuring out what to strap them to. I took my pegs off, but am thinking of using them as well. I figured I would deal with it right before a trip, but it would be nice to have the tank bag on now, as riding season is upon us here.
 
If you use the just the mount (that u shaped thing formed to fit the frame tube) from your rear peg bracket and a piece of flat bar with a couple of holes you can fashion a wide variety of attachments on the subframe tube.

That's what I'm thinking. Except the left side might pose some problems. The straps would have to snake through the shock reservoir and exhaust to get to the subframe.

I'm buying them for a long trip that's coming up. I'm thinking it might be best to put the passenger pegs back on for the trip. You never know when a buddy might need a ride, huh?
