As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Still no plate? Glad I didn't wait... Hey Im a poet and didn't no it.lol
Plated means "Road Registered" Varies from State to State here, what bikes can be registered. Worst fines I know of in States, are in Suffolk County, NY.... First offense bike impounded and $750 fine, second time, impound and $1500. This is registered or not, for riding in illegal areas.when you guys say plated, does that mean they can be registered? what is the average fine for riding an unregistered bike in the states?
I got done the other day as part of my accident and are expecting at least $1200 fine as my bike wasn't registered
Registration and insurance is a very big thing here in NJ and in southern NY where we ride, especially where we ride illegally, which is basically everywhere. A night in jail, big bail, and loss of bike, big lawyer fees, huge court hassle, has happened to one of our buddies. Plus we can't even ride an enduro with out a plate here in NJ. Scary times and why I wandered over to Hare Scrambles years ago and now some motard, all closed course racing. We even get hassled ice riding without regi/insurance/plate on certain lakes/resevoirs. We got hassled by a cop ice riding on the Wallkill River in Maybrook, NY and the cop told me honestly he had no idea what to charge us for, so I offered him a ride on my mighty YZ and he just shook his head and left. "Just get your trucks off the road and have fun." He said. Very nice kid. According to a local judge a friend stood in front of after getting caught riding off road we found that we can lose our drivers license if we have no insurance. I get insurance on all my off road bikes now, registered or not.
We've had shotguns pointed at us, Glocks pointed at me after we respectfully stopped for a DEC cop. We do not stop now and it's been kind of a battle since literally 1983 where we ride. It got so bad the DEC would come to my buddies house and hand out tickets to us after we had our ride but the judge in town threw out the tickets and told the "New" agent not to waste his time anymore. My buddy knew the original DEC dudes and as a retired Wallkill State Prison guard, and a super tuff guy, had a ton of respect and as a result we had years of easy going and we would stop to say hello to the DEC when we saw them. Not good, it get's worse as they want us "Outlaws" badly now even more. They finally caught one of us as described above and threw the book at him and it's been two years with no decision, and no bike was returned. The funny thing is we are in our 60's with a few young kids, in their 50's, ha ha. You gotta be tuff to ride in NJ and southern NY and have a good lawyer. The GNCC in Unadilla is easy for us old guys as there's no cops chasing us. LOL. Check the results of last years old mans class, it's us on top. I got a fourth hung over and out of shape but had a ball on my Hooskivarna. BTW, looking to get a new one when I can put a plate on it and supposedly it can be done here in jersey, may be just talk tho.
Screw the bike, I want access to the rock garden at the 1 min mark.
Maybe someday I will get out that way and take you up on that. The rocks in MO, AR and CO where I ride are not usually rounded off on the edges like that. That looks like a perfect playground to spend days hopping around.I can point you to endless miles of that in Washington and Idaho.
