• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Bet you thought I got some booty, nope, boots...

Yesterday (Sunday) I set out to go riding in Hoodriver Oregon. I met my partner in crime Adam at Gresham, exit 17 off 84, a very busy truck stop. We always meet here when riding the east side and leave a truck and carpool. So we get to our destination and I go to get ready and.... no boots**************************************** Crap! I know there are sitting right next to my truck, or at least were. So I'm pissed, I never do this, it's a beautiful day, great group, etc. Buddy Rick from HR starts calling and get this, his friend will lend me boots and lives about 2 miles away. I ride my DB to his house and bam, I'm good to go. Spend the rest of the day riding epic trails with great friends and return the boots on my way out. Drive back to Gresham and, no way, my boots are still sitting there****************************************! Unbelievable they would still be there, nice Alpinstars in a super busy parking. WOW, I dodged a bullet there.

Nice when things work out and our faith in humanity and some special guardians is restored,,,,,,, I left my A stars on my trailer and started on the way home from riding was about 3 miles down the dirt road and decided to check my messages where I was not in the dead zone,,, just glanced in mirror as I stopped on the side of the road and saw an animal crossing the road about 200 yards back,,,,,,,,one of my boots.... I blasted back and found the other another mile back...... a few trucks had passed me the that were on the way in,,, I felt really fortunate,,,,,,and you left them out all day cool.

PS gotta watch what I put on the trailer,,,,,I left my very important brief case on it but thats another story..... (that also turned out well)
 
There was a commercial on TV about someone forgetting his or her camera on a restaurant table for a day or two...and came back and it was still there... don't you wish the world was like this it said...
I think it was for a credit card or something.

Anyway I often think ya why can't it be :excuseme:

I don't call it luck Kelly...I just think there a lot of honest bikers out there that deserve more credit then given.

This is a place full of unsavory types. I thought for sure they would be gone. I was very happy they were not. I hope it is good human nature that left them there but I'm guessing those who thought about taking them also thought WTF would I wear those to do? :D
 
Maybe some unsavory types tried them on, took a quick sprint in them, and then thought to themselves "I can't out run crap in these" worst getaway boots ever.

Also diggin' the Dick Burelson 'goggles'.....

Works very well for slow, cold stuff where foggin' up is an issue. Used to use Home Depot safety glasses, wraps, in clear (back when I rode cuz I sure aint been as of late sweet god kill me nooooooooow!)
 
I wear safety glasses on all rides that are not terribly dusty. I order them in bulk for $1.50 each. Better vision, no fogging, does not close my nose breathing, not as hot. In dust and in real cold weather I wear goggles.
 
Triple lucky

I would have to say you were triple lucky. 1) You were able to borrow a pair. 2) They were there when you returned, and 3) You were not surrounded by SWAT members when you returned from your ride. You could have been a shoe bomber leaving shoes like that in a busy area. :lol::lol::lol:

Yup, I'm a safety glasses wearer, too, when the conditions are right. It was first suggested to me that they would be the eyewear of choice for a very hot ride through 5MOH in Utah so I picked up a pair and haven't looked back since. Much cooler and much more comfortable all the way around.

The biggest downside for me is there is more face exposed to get whipped by branches. I love the open feeling and EZ breathing though. :thumbsup:
 
I saw posted on some site, a guy who used window screen in place of a lense in his goggles in hot weather. I fog safety glasses worse than my Scott Turbo Flows.
