  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Handguards- what are you using?

Love the treaded insert mounting on the HDB's as well...

Anyone have a number for HDB? I filled out a contact request form this morning but have not heard back. There is not a contact number on their site.

acerbis rally pro all the way!!, the mounting for the ends of the bars are the strongest. i put EE ones on my newer te310 and they move constantly

I have had the rally pro's on my WR for 4 years, the bar end mounting is the best thing about them... The aluminum they use is butter soft so if you crash a lot, or let people ride your bike that crash a lot plan on removing them regularly for straightening.

I have the Cycra's on my TXC, they are much stronger. I took a hard fall Saturday on a concrete block hardened trail when something jumped in front of me on a night ride. They didn't budge. :applause:

I have a set of the HDB's in a box but have to work out the mounting with my current Husky mounts in the forward position. Need to order some more parts I think.

Later,

That looks sweet!
But you know what that would look like after a trip on my woods runner.

The big thing for me, is we cut our bars down to 28". So with the center mount you then have to try and drill new holes in the right spot.

Where as the EE's just bolt on and don't care that I cut the bars down.

I believe HDB makes some shorter guards for that reason.

The all plastic CYCRA Composite Pro-Bend have been excellent for me. Use the BRP threaded insert in the bar and you have a super rugged set up. They NEVER loosen up

BLOOD! Blood I tell you! Getting bloody knuckles while riding will connect you directly with the dirt bike Gods! Hand guards be damned!

WIMPS! All of ye who ride with the non-manly guards!

Hmmm, you must have just barely reached puberty, I'm guessing.

I wish! I'm actually about to turn 44, but am VERY immature. Ask my girlfriend. She calls me Peter Pan. But thank you for the observation!

pro-bends, no lever interferance ever with these. they rock!

get the plastic gaurds too, itll save you from the little finger whippers the open ones wont.

I'm using the Cycra Composite Pro-Bends on the TE310 along with Zeta pivot levers from Langston Racing, and they have held up amazingly well through some spectacular biffs.

Ordered HDBs from Paul. Great guy to work with! Thanks all for the feedback and suggestions. And I say NO TO BLOODY KNUCKLES!!

I have a set of the Fastway with integrated Scott's mount off my KTM, but they won't bolt up to my new TE 250. Anybody know if the HDB will accept the Fastway bars? They are setup pretty similarly.
