• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Have to install new handlebar after two crashes

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Had to exit the bike fast in order to avoid a crash. The bar was just a bit off kilter and that lead to another "off", so that the bar is now bent together with the top clamp. Have ordered new parts but would appreciate advice on an easy way to guarantee that the bar is on straight and the front is aligned correctly. Any ideas? (630SM)

Go do 100 mph and if you don't get a tank slapper going you're fine.:lol
I had the same thing happen, the bars took all the crash. If the new bar clamp fits up right you should be fine, but go do 100 mph and see.

Ok ... will just mount the new bar and try it out. Have taken off the top clamp. It´s b*uggered (doesn´t lie flat). Suppose it´s no use trying to straighten out the old handlebar?

It's pretty hard to get them perfectly stright. Better off buying new bars and an aftermarket clamp. Look around for one of the clamps that has spots for mounting things. I think tour tech, hdb, Scott's, etc.. all make good mounts. If you're ever going to mount a steering stabilizer look for one that's compatible. Good luck! Don't for get to go do 100 mph!

I have read that people have cut the bars in the middle that make the clamp one unit and that will allow you to put it together and it won't be twisted. You can try it, what do you have to lose?

Whereas the clamp is definitely badly twisted, I can´t find anything off alignment with the bar (clamped it in a vice together with a spirit level & took all the measurements I could. None are more the 1/2mm off, which can be corrected manually by bending).
Wish my knee, shoulder and elbow were in such good nick.

Then try cutting the cross brace and see if it'll fit up nice nice... That braces are whats causing it to not fit stright. Good luck. Hope you heal up fast and can fix up the bars easy enough.

personally I would never cut the cross brace, it is one piece for a reason. replace it with oe part or aftermarket.

That was meant as a temp fix, but look at the Rox Risers... They don't have a cross bar. They're two separate clamps and they work very well!

Have ordered a new bar and a top clamp on the net from the local (?) Husky dealer. Don´t think I´d trust the old clamp but will keep the bar as it looks ok. Can no longer see my kneecap so it might well be healing. Arm and shoulder still stiff. And need a new Hammerhead shifter.

When you get the HammerHead shifter you'll need to drill out the hole in the lever a couple of mm so the HH pin will fit. You also will need to use the old spring, as the HH spring is too big. Lastly, you will have to fit 2 small washers, top and bottom for perfect fit of HH. The HH tip works great for us big footed fellows.

I already installed one ... but have now crushed it.

Crashed mine 5 times now and no bend bar.. how did you manage to do that :D

You keep track of how many times you crash? I lost track once I ran out of fingers. haha nothing serious though, always in the dirt and so far (knock on wood) no damage whatsoever.

haha yeah I'll keep track of it as long as I can :D

Strange about the bar. The bar clamp is badly distorted and the risers were no longer aligned. So took the bar off and measured it it every which way direction. Seems it is ok, but deffo need a new clamp. Knee is very sore as the tarmac took a lump out of it. Not to worry ... as I´m back on the road.
