• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

HELP ... B&B bash plate installation on TE 630

Hi guys,

I picked up my B&B bash plate from the post office earlier today:D and want to install it now ... but I just found out that there's no installation instruction in the package:banghead:

I google it and searched youtube for any video on how to do it, to no avail ... So, can anybody who has B&B bash plate on their TE 630 show me a picture or two on how it is mounted on the bike, please ....? Anybody has the installation instruction?

Answering my own question I think I figure it out.. but not 100% sure.
I took a picture of the bash plate ... with all the bolts and clamps or whatever the name is... in place ...does it go like this picture below?

It's the picture of the BB bash plate seen from about 45 degree angle from the rear.

A) above go to the engine mount at the front of the frame, using the original bolts or the brass bolts provided with the bash plate. Do I need to replace the original bolts and use the brass ones?

Then B) go to the frame under the crankcase. Those two black stripes are rubber stripes, I guess those rubbers strips are the parts that actually touch the frames.

Am I correct here? Need confirmation before I use loctite and mount it on the bike:D

hey man just checked mine & thats how its mounted,also i used locktite & extra nuts on the top,pretty sure i used the original bolts & were long enough,i did have make space at the oil filter to remove the cover{basically ground a bit off,they might have fixed this problem by now} hope this helps

I tried to install it last night but I had problem with the rear left hand side bolt (B) ... I couldn't make the bolt's head even or flat (flush?) with the bash plate surface, the head stuck out a bit. No problem with the RHS. So I removed the bash plate ... I guess I'm a bit OCD.. have to have a perfect fit :Dand and maybe will try again tonight. The B bolts were really difficult to mount, it's really hard to reach them.

Any tips on how to do it? Did you leave the bike on the side stand when installing the bash plate, or did you put the bike on a jack?

Don't have that skid plate so don't really know...but is it perhaps the case that the bolt is hitting the underside of the engine casing? May just need to cut that bolt shorter, or get a shorter bolt for that side.
 
I have the same bashplate on my 630 I ended up with a piece of 4mm alloy between the brackets A and the front of the plate on mine to get it to sit right.

If I had my time again I would purchase the Force plate instead one bolt fitment.

I also run longer bolts with nyloc nuts at point A for the front engine mounts.
 
Thank you very much guys :thumbsup: I just finish installing it... this time it went on smoothly and easily. Here it is installed on my bike :D
