Thanks for taking a stab at it. I know it was talked about in another thread, glad to see you got it and good luck!
As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey thanks for the invite! I would need to make it over the pass, so will watch road conditions. Sounds like it could be a cold time!
I haven't heard anything from Dean in years. I know an administrator (that isn't active on the board anymore)pretty well, so I made an appeal to them directly.Any news from Dean (Coffee)? Looks like the Atlas fire is a little SW of his place (or where he used to live anyway).
I haven't talked to him in a good while.
Hope things are OK
As of earlier today, it was right across the street. It doesn’t look good for his property.Any news from Dean (Coffee)? Looks like the Atlas fire is a little SW of his place (or where he used to live anyway).

It’s been pretty crazy. My house has been threatened a few times, but fortunately winds have changed each time. I’ve been working 18 hour shifts. I work for the water department in Saint Helena, which is 15 miles north of napa, and we’ve had power intermittently so we’ve been maintaining generators and water pumps for the fire department in case it makes it here. We’re surounded on 3 sides by the fires. The one that has destroyed large parts of Santa Rosa has backtracked to Calistoga and now Calistoga is completely evacuated. This fire has slowly been creeping towards Saint Helena. These wild fires you have are just horrendous and so harsh on so many good folks.
What with hurricanes on the East Coast and Fires on the West Coast the weather goods are extracting a huge toll.
One brave lady on TV had lost her house in the Napa and looked the camerman in the eye and said it was not a loss but an opportunity. What a fantastic attitude, makes one feel proud of man kind and somewhat humble with your own likely attitude to such awful events.
I seen that....Sorry DD, your thread has been jacked. If we only knew a moderator...
There have been threads started about this before. No conclusions were reached in those threads either.Didn't mean to hijack the thread..... but I would think a discussion of the whereabouts of the missing owner would be relevant.
I doubt the server(s) are at his house, when I was there he had some sort of long range wireless link setup since he didn't have an internet connection up there. I don't think that setup would support the Site's traffic.
