• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

High Idle After Leo Vince and P/U Kit

Idles at 2000. What's the deal? Tried turning the adjuster on the throttle body (the one BEHIND the airbox that takes the 8mm hex or phillips, that you can barely see). Ended up turning it almost all the way in (CW) until rpms began to increase a bit. Nothing changed after about 4 complete turns in, and never did the rpms decrease.

Idle increasing after the PU mod is normal. I don't know about the idle screw not working like it should. Mine was just fine after installing the PU kit.

I had the same problem with mine. It turned out that the choke/fast idle cable had worked it's way out of the 90 degree tubing on the side of the fuel injector. Put it back in place and then I was able to set the idle. Hope this helps.

I'll look tomorrow and let you know.

Mine did the same thing. Are you sure you are turning the right thing? When I adjusted mine, I let it come up to full operating temperature and then made the idle adjustment. I only had to turn the bolt/screw a little bit to get it down to 1,600 rpm's. Did you have your enrichner all the way off?

Yes. Enricher all the way off. I had just riden it 75 mis on the hwy. Plenty hot. But, one thing; I did have the air filter off for cleaning when I tried to adjust it. Maybe that? I'll check the enrichener to make sure, also, tomorrow. Too dark now.

Mine too. Idle was much too high after the P/U kit was installed. You´ll need the special small spanner in the tool kit to re-adjust the idle. Doesn´t take more than a few minutes and instructions are in the manual.

I'm not sure how much that would throw things off, but mine was on when I made my adjustment.

This might be good news. I just took my bike in for a check up as I blew a fuse. They saw that my bike was idling high. They checked everything and what appeared to be causing the problem was the choke wire was too tight so it was keeping the choke on which was causing to bike to idle high. Try loosening the wire by the choke. It appears to be very tempermental.

I looked at mine just now. When I 'engage' the enrichener, the cable pulls back and appears to be doing something. However, when I push the lever back to the original position, the right-angle thingy at the throttle body? kindof moves so it's difficult to tell if anything has changed inside.

So...I disconnected the 10mm hex that goes into the throttle body? to see how this thingy works. Basically, its a plunger connected to the cable. When you pull back on the enrichener lever on the handlebars, it pulls the plunger away from what looks like a piston inside the throttle body. When you push the lever back, it should push the plunger back into the throttle body and engage the little piston inside. No way to tell if it actually does this, of course, after assembly.

So, I don't know. Mine still idles too high, too. And, turns on the 8mm hex behind the airbox still have no effect.

I hope I don't have to take this to a DEALER!

The dealer working on my bike loosened the cable all the way and it was still tempermental. If you take your hand and just move the cable back and forth you could hear the idle go up and down. This might be a flaw in the bike.

My bike has idled at 1200 rpm since new. After installing the Leo Vince and PU, it now idles at 1500-1600 rpm. I haven't adjusted the idle yet, but from what I'm reading here, I take it I don't need to?? So is 1,500-1600 the ideal range?

Make sure the outer sheath of the cable is seated all the way into the 90 degree bend. You will have to slide the rubber boot out of the way and see if you can push it further into the tube. The end of the sheath on mine was caught on the edge of the tube and not inserted at all. I also had to reroute the cable at the handlebar because every time I would turn them all the way to the right the engine would speed up. It doesn't take much tension to affect the engine speed.

I don't know about the 610, but the 630 manual says idle should be 1650.
