• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husky please let us know

WR250/300 are in the same basic frame that has been used since 1999. It has had minor tweaks in 2002 but is essentially the same frame since 1999, maybe earlier. It isn't that it handles poorly at all it is just a matter of the new frames on the 125 and ex-lites works better.

Oh, That's too bad. The '01 CR250 frame worked really well IMO much better than the '00, I would still race one and wish I never sold my '01 CR250.

Given how much space there is in the '12 CR125 frame, what's to stop someone from shoehorning a WR250/300 motor in there? The swingarm bolt size/spacing? I think it would be phenominal........ NEXT PROJECT, WALT****************************************! I'll buy the first one!!

If you race any tight stuff, you might be wanting the 165 back asap. Any way you go about it, good luck!

There is no way I am changing brands this year so will work with wht I have for now

Dude you are way too core Husky to talk like that!! Find a clean '01-'02 CR250, mint it out, put your bling suspension on it, and take names and hand out waiting numbers.... You could really demoralize your competition and make some 10g 4strokes look silly (sounds like you already do!)

The future is always unknown to me till it happens but there should be a point in time where I have an 010 bare 4T frame and a 08 WR250 engine in close proximity and maybe I can do a quick look at the 2T engine sitting in the 4T frame ... This will be Jan-Feb of 2013 if I can make it happen ... Maybe this will give Walt some ideas if he already does not have any ...

My guess is that the reason they don't shoe horn it into the new frame is the right side drive. The new frame has the shock offset to the right side which doesn't leave a lot of room for chain, sprockets, brake line, and the exhuast they like to run down the right side. Probably not a complete deal breaker. I loved my 06 WR250. The suspension was great after the re-valve and with a 6 speed and auto clutch it was the bomb. If my Nephew hadn't had to have it I would still have it.

That shock mounting is a real show stopper possibility ... :(

I'm really a 6-sped guy also ... Are you referring to a true WR 6speed tranny in the 06 bike or something more like the 6 sped tranny close ratios we see today ...

Side note: Are the gear ratios closer on the 08 WR250 than the 010 TC250 models?

I replaced the 5 speed with old semi-close ratio box out of an old 360. Ended up with a lower first and 80+ mph top end.

Seems like an auto clutch might smooth out riding a 2T machine even more than a 4T because these seem easier to ride by by default ...

I can see where somewhere down the line changing to a 6 speed to my wr250 would be a good thing to do ...

Good points I clearly flew off half-cocked there. I AM a dreamer......

I'm tellin ya WB165 all built into the late model 125 chassis. very good easy to manage package. I rode a 13 CR144 and was amazed at the easier to ride bottom boost compared to the 13 125. super lite not just x-lite!! with the 165 cc mill. Ajax #1 50A Nat H&H again.
