• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I rode a 2013 Beta 300RR yesterday...

While you know what works for you, keep an open mind and ride the 300, its different. I never liked 300s and never even considered one after owning a KTM300, always rode 250s. Like Hammer said in the other thread, I took a chance on this because I wanted the forks, and the motor turned out to be just as exceptional. Less big torque off the bottom, more free reving up top, and adjustable. Just try it before deciding. I can ride this bike faster than my GG250s without getting tired which is what worried me at first but its no problem. I also don't lug it around, I ride it more like a 250.

I thought my review was pretty glowing. I have had all sorts of bikes in every size. Right now own a 144, 165, 511, KX500, TR650, hand many WR250's, rode piles of KTM250/300's I get it. I just prefer smaller displacement bikes right now. Fell in love with the 125/144/165 idea and it kinda stuck. Like how they make you ride the bike and cant be lazy. I had a decked out all redone TXC450 with a reckluse. Was a magic carpet ride. Switched to 125's at the shock of my friends and just love thrashing those little bikes. Less power and small cranks make bikes handle amazing. Like I said in my review, 300's are not really my thing as I ride very tight technical and the 165 is the perfect displacement for me. Out of any 300 I have ridden the Bate is by far my favorite. Thats why I long for a 175-200 class bike from them.

I get that, all I meant was if someone was in the market for a Beta was avoiding the 300 for a 250 based on KTM experience they should just try it first.

Im with y'all like I said before Ive ridden 2 one OEM stock, then the same one with proper springs, and another that was dialed in by TBT suspension the Purvines race team suspension sponsor.

I have a local guy who is a TBT satellite shop up here do my 125 sachs shocks and he does a fantastic job. Did mine and a fried rode it and he sent his shock ASAP. Those guys know revavles.

The Beta 300RR OEM TBT suspended bike is now in full US Purvines race team parts suspension with the Red 48 Marzocchis and the Fox rear shock(RC3 I think its called) (I guess also tuned by TBT), I have not ridden it since that kit was added.

All the Purvines guys are on zoke red 48s and Fox RC3s at least at the last H&H (Nicks and Cap's) and when I saw Morrows 498 at an open house.

Was talking with Walt recently and he mentioned he ended up with a broken 125 motor to play with. Said, "what should I do with it?" I said stroke it! He said good idea, looks like he is doing so. Walt, when you get done playing with it send it to me to try
