• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

After the update of the mapping of my Terra the idle speed is a little bit unstable. Sometimes jumps about 50/100 r/min up and down.

I have already reseted the TPS and idle speed sensor, made it a little bit better but it´s not gone completely.

It would be interesting for me to know if anyone else has this symptom on his bike or run all other bikes stable? Please let me know, thanks.

By the way... I just want to know what the idle speed of other bikes is and don´t need any advice how to probably fix it. This should belong to consisting warranty. Thank you ;)
 
1500-1600rpm OEM always been a bit lumpy, but I'm ok with that, it sounds cool:) , otherwise it would sound like a lawn mower...

For a non-native english speaker: "lumpy" means that idle speed is not stable? Jumping from 1.500 to 1.600?

correct, not constant, varies between 1500 -1600rpm.

IMO this is not a topic to spend much time in the scheme of things, just as long as it keeps running, that's the important bit.....there will always be some variation and we are only talking 100 odd rpm in a big single that will happily rev to 8K!,....there's always a compromise somewhere, you cant have it all.
 
Will have my Terra MOSSed tomorrow, then I will know more.

Heres some shots of what you are looking for. I am not sure the version of MOSS is that important now, it just has more features for the technician. The MOSS Tool will go to the server and update your bike to the latest (and theres no going back). Its the "prog.ECU" thats import, this is the ECU software revision version and the latest is #8543235. Good luck mine is still not right......I believe we have an ECU problem, time will tell and I will.

Sorry, but only the TPS and the idle adjuster will be relearned with the MOSS tool. Not a completely new mapping. This was made in april, but I don´t know which version.

From my experience and from advice given to me by others who use the MOSS Tool, you cannot go back to old ECU update. Sorry I just notice my picture is wrong with the ECU versions..I will try to fix this:doh: .
 
The workshop of my confidence told me that there is a way back to the original mapping and that they already did it a few times.

Please take a photo of the MOSS Tool screen showing where you can back-up ECU updates.

Unfortunatly it didn´t work as planned. So nothing new.

Sorry kiwiape, the dealer who told me is about 400 km away...
 
I did the procedure to disconected battery for 1 hour and follow the right way to conected back and twist , left the fun running.
at the moment no iddle stall at all. I wil go advising news .
it seems to go much better, but I have to wait a couple of days to analysis all situations.
 
Today I was in another workshop and they made it. The TPS was relearned and the idle adjuster calibrated with the MOSS tool.

Now it´s great, No more of this unstable idle speed, just little jumping as it´s normal. No stalling, the bike runs perfect.

I don´t need any booster, wuka or eruption, only an exact calibration of the injection system.

@kiwiape: The surface of the MOSS tool here looks a little bit different than the one on your pictures. Maybe that is the solution?

it sounds like you have the older version MOSS (V14) in which I saw how to recalibrate TPS. How far have you riden it?, it can take a few k's before it stumbles and around town is the best place.

Hey Nordland, I had mine reset last week as it had the same symptoms as your bike with the same outcome. Easy to tell it was relearning as the fuel cut-in while coasting was a little harsh but it sorts itself out after a good ride.

Like you, never had a Wuka or booster as I find it works okay without one.
 
This morning, outside temperature about 12° Celsius (15,5° Celsius at the dash) - 54° F/60° F - the idle was perfect :thumbsup:
