  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

IMS Tank with 7602 Rad Braces

AA Class
just picked up a used ims tank for my 2008 te510 along with 7602 radiator braces and guards. i haven't installed them yet but i'm wondering if anyone is running this combination and if the 7602 radiator braces contact the ims tank at all? hopefully i will be installing the tank and guards this week but any feedback on the fitment of the two will be great. thanks.

Yep, I'm running that with no issues at all (well, none with the fitment, leaks on the other hand...). Not that you asked, but i believe the big Safari tank would require some trimming of the rad guards.

thanks for letting me know. the previous owner had no leaks in the tank so i would assume i wouldn't either. any issues with mounting the fan to the radiator braces?

I was running both until my IMS started leaking last weekend, now I've got the Safari with 7602 guards without any modifications to the guards.

We switched to a one piece design on the latest run of rad braces. Here's some pics so you can see the difference. 1.JPG 2.JPG 3.JPG

Man, I wish these had been out a couple years ago! I know, if if if. I'm running BPD's milled guard/brace that are plenty robust but over $200. I'd rather have supported Clay's innovative design as it would meet all my requirements for crush protection and if needed, frontal protection. I can't see how these aren't the best available, at least from viewing the specs and reading feedback reports.

On the new one piece design how much of a pain is it to tighten the top two front braces. It looks like you don't have access to them with a wrench since it is a one piece that wraps around the back of the radiator. On the older style since the middle brace is in the front it sticks out in front of the frame you can tighten it that way and the top one you install before it goes on the radiator.

it wasn't too bad but i tried for the life of me not to take the radiator hose off. it worked fine on the throttle side but not enough room to install it on the clutch side without taking the top radiator hose off. it was still tight in doing so but manageable. i had to use a small allen wrench instead of my T handle allen to tighten it up. other than that, it was a good install.
just had to top off the coolant because i lost some when taking the upper hose off.
