  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ever ride a 250? It's like that only with 20% or so more power.

Never read anyone say the 310 did not have enough hp to pull them around ... I'm sure more owners will chime in here shortly ...

What was it about the crf 450 that you did not like?

Mate I am 6 foot and circa 235 lbs (fit not fat) and would be 250ish dressed. My 2010 310 hauls me anywhere with ease and is much better in the tight than my previous 450 or 510.

What he said. I am 235 lbs nakid, 250+ fully dressed out in gear. My 2010 310 pulls me around as good as my 525 and with less effort on my part. I replaced a KTM200 with my 310 and it is as close to a 2stroke like 4stroke bike I have ever ridden. It doesn't lack for power except maybe for open desert racing where you want a 450 minimum to run 90+ for long periods............

x3 - I'm also 235 lbs but riding a KTM 250F with a 280 big bore kit. It hauls me fine and is a blast to ride in technical single-track... I can climb long technical hills a lot easier / faster on this bike than I could on my 250 2-stroke. I think the Husky is actually 302 cc so it should have a little more HP than my 280.

I think the main difference you'll notice about the 310 is you have to use the clutch more, as opossed to a 450. It's similar to a 250 with more grunt. It also rewards aggressive riding like a 250. Coming off a Yamaha YZF250, that's what I was looking for. So far I only have a couple of rides on mine but I love it!
