• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Installed 1" Bar risers, which fatbar should I get?

Husqvarna
AA Class
I received my set of 1" Fatbar risers from dedave from down in Tucson last night. I ordered the 1 1/8" opening because I eventually will get a set of fat bars. I cut a piece of radiator hose to act as a spacer to get me by for now. I rode the bike to work today and at 6'1", I find the extra 1" much more comfortable. Below are some pictures.

On a side note, I'm trying to decide on which bars to get.
Here is some information that I've acquired. I previously had a set of 2" Rox risers, so I know I have another inch of rise that I can gain without having cable issues. The Outlaw Racing ATV Lows look about right and the are cheaper than Pro Taper. Has anybody used this brand of bar before?

Pro Taper kx high b 108mm same as stock rise of tr650
Pro Taper pastrana fmx 121mm 13mm = 0.51" higher
Pro Taper atv high 121mm 13mm = 0.51" higher
Pro Taper atv raptor 143mm 35mm = 1.37" higher
Outlaw racing ATV Low (TH-11) 130mm 22mm = 0.86" higher

Beautiful workmanship on the risers! I wish mine were that nice, I bought cheapies on Amazon and they are already oxidized.

Simichrome Polish will fix ya up, good stuff. (by Happich)

I don't know if Flitz will work as well, but that is another decent product.

I've noticed that my hands are starting to bother me more while riding because of increased vibration. I'd like to put the oem bar end weights back on. Since there is no threaded piece on the end of the bars, how can I go about doing this? I'd rather not buy a whole new bar end setup and would like to use the stuff that I have.

You can try something like this, http://www.fasstco.com/product/anti-vibration-inserts

HDB Anti-Vibe Threaded Inserts. AND some gel grips http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/4503/i/pro-grip-719-rvgs-open-end-gel-grip.aspx. Might be a real nice combo and not widen out the bars too much. Hmmm, got me thinking. Some say they do nothing for vibes.

I will look a little bit for this style of bar end weight that has the notch for the handguards. Somebody has to make them. Over at the BMW Sertao thread at adv, there is much more discussion, and the stock Sertao is like our bikes, with exception to the risors and tripple clamp. All the other stuff is the same on the bars.

Scroll down a little to see about this setup on a Sertao. http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/2012-bmw-g650gs-sertao-owners.747861/page-473

Before spending anything, try filling the bars up with simple beach sand and see if that is enough.

I filled the bars with BBs and put some grip covers on the bike. I still don't have the bar ends on, but that got rid of about 85% of the vibrations. :applause:
