I'm planning a summer trip, and I would like to install a power outlet on my 610 so that I can take my GPS along. I was thinking of one like this:

I don't want to cut into the wiring on my bike, since I'm still under warranty, and I don't see the need to have it connected to the ignition. I have never wired this sort of thing before, and I'm looking for some guidance. My thought is to run it straight to the battery with some kind of switch mounted on the bars. I have no clue if I need relays, fuses, or other electrical components. If you've set up this sort of thing, please enlighten me.
