  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC Interesting mods and bits for the new Husky

I finally had a chance to test out the 53t rear sprocket and TPS mod this weekend. I went from stock .58 to .61 and noticed slightly quicker starting but very minimal and it did feel snappier on the bottom end. I ran the aggressive timing map and everything went great till the end of the day when I had two flame outs. Not sure why it happens but we were going very slow through some very tight stuff, I switched to the stock map and rode a bit with no flame out. I may dial the tps back to .59-.60 and test next weekend.
The 53 rear sprocket really woke the bike up but does make 1st gear all but useless unless in the slowest tightest trail. All the other gears feel more responsive and I no longer feel a gear to high and this also seems to be a little more friendly to my rekluse.

Are those brake pedals available for the 2014 TE310? I'm having trouble finding a good aftermarket one. Hammerhead doesn't make one..thanks

Awesome Thread you guys have going here!! Allot of good info!

You guys have me really curious on the Auzzie map? And how to get it? And if the 15 FE 350 will need it??

I am very anxious to be getting my new 15 FE 350? Not sure when though lol...

I have a FMF FACTORY 4.1 RCT w/ Mega Bomb coming for it, along with the Trail Tech Map Switch, a GOOD SS oil filter, and along with other stuff stabLizer mounts Fastway stuff and of course Zip Ty goodies thinking of putting some CV4 hoses on to eliminate the weak point of the thermostat.

But now have a few questions for you guys??

Mapping? What if my dealer can't do it what is a good reliable source to send the ECU to?

Also you think the bike will need it? 3,000-6,000 ft elevation?

And then Fuel? I know this is a loaded question on some messageboard forums but really wondering what is the best for the 350 motor with the stock compression ratio and the pipe set up?

I'm sure I will have more questions as time passes and I think of stuff while waiting for her, but when she shows I will post some pics and impressions to share.

Thx Scott

Congrats on the new bike whenever you get it! Sounds like you have a bunch of nice goodies as well.
As far as mapping if your dealer wont I know Halls Cycle will do it and probably others as well but I deal with Halls and they're great do deal with.
Will the bike "need" it is probably up to the person but with a full exhaust I'd say yeah it'll need it, it also helps some on cooling the temps on the bike.
I've ran a 50/50 mix of 91 and 110 and think it runs better on just 91 no ethanal. High octane = slower burning in most cases so its good for high comp but not needed for normal comp usually.

Goin up a tooth on the rear really woke up my 350 and i have all the stuff your looking at getting as well, just an fyi.
I feel like my rear brake locks the tire up real easy and thought about trying the dirt tricks spring to see if that helps
zip ty coolant made a good addition to keep the heat off my leg
had multiple sources say run 105mm sag and forks flush with top of clamp or 1 line down, it helps with holding a line.

Yes, but the 350 really should have a resonator installed.
The system below is hands down the best you can get for the 350.

I like those tires as well......... (go ahead y'all , I know Im a freak with my FIM tires)

Note Akropovic is strictly a contracted KTM/Husaberg/Husky OEM supplier so they are available only through the dealer power parts catalog

A mod that I like and think is a value added mod that the new powerparts catalog has is the fuel pump fitting that uses a banjo fitting to tuck in that loop of hose hanging out from the bottom of the tank on the left side.
That hose hanging down has always looked very trail hack vulnerable to me when I look at my friends FI KTMs and now see the same on the FI Huskys.

Might be your air filter getting clogged towards the end of the day. Seen that before.

At the time of my posting, Akropovic was the hot setup. Since then, Procircuit has designed a system which trifles even the Akro system.

Thanks...

As for mapping I guess I'll just keep an Eye on it and do a few plug checks.

But I get a little. Paranoid about mapping because I had a bad experience with the 13 Kawasaki and I failing Electronics...

Just fitted a stock 14' KTM 22deg triple on the 14' fe350. You will need the MX front fender (bolts to front of triple not just bottom) this will allow you to run the mx plate and the 15' headlight if you choose. I may just pick up another MX fender, drill hole for my 14' headlight and use this set up for enduros only and the other for all the other races.
Just thought you guys would like to know.

Has anyone installed the exhaust flange from Best Dualsports? I think he calls it the "Big bottom kit". Just curious if it is all he says it is?

Do you mean the "Grunt" flange? I saw that a while back but it seemed like a gimmick like their magic mod is.

Yes, the "grunt". Sounded too good to be true. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with it on the 501?

One thing my 501 doesn't lack is grunt. Plenty of that on tap to loft the front wheel almost using my mind. That entire website is bazaar IMHO.

We're on the same page with the website for sure.

Is anyone offering a custom MAP for the husky or do I just go with the euro?

Not sure if you guys have experienced clogged injectors yet or not. We dnf'd a bunch of times due to this during our race season this past year on both the KTM and Husky's. Once your injector is clogged, there is no way to unclog it completely without sending it out to be cleaned or replacing it. These replace one side of your quick disconnect and eliminate the clogging issues using a 10 micron absolute SS filter.

Wanted to let everyone know that the 12-15 KTM Exc chain guide kit works on the Husky with one tiny mod.
I used the acerbis kit with the swing arm guide top and bottom and the chain guide block in rear. Everything bolts up except the lower slider that acts as the bottom roller it has a steel sleave pressed in it that is to small to bolt to the husky. I just punched out the old sleave and reused it in the new lower guide, no special tools and that's it. It all works!
