  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Is there a list error codes, I have a 22 on HID/Lynx install

I think it's a 22, when I switch from High beam to Low beam, my speedo blanks out and resets, shows all 888888s, then a 22 then it starts working again.

I originally had the HID Low beam wired so that it went off when the High beam was on. The error happened then.

Now I have wired the Low beam to stay on all the time, even when the High beam is on, and the error still happens.

I have a ground run all the way back to the battery, all connections are double-checked the speedo ONLY resets when the button is pushed to go from High beam, to Low beam.

I am confused by this- did you leave some original wireing inplace?

It sounds like a short...

Basically on the original wiring- the Hight beam circuit (white wire)was spliced between the bulb and the left hand switch to another white wire that went to the SPeedo to power the High beam indicator. Check out the schematic...

I would investigate what is happening with that wire. I would eliminate it from the circuit- to resolve the problem- then study the new circuit and decide if you want to include it....

The "codes" from the speedo, to my knowledge, don't tell you anything in reguards to diagnosing a problem. Newtral blinking indicates and error- IBeat tells you exactly what kind of error it is.

Good Luck.

Actually, the "22" that I see when the speedo reboots looks like a "2.2". Does the bike/ECU have a firmware version and has anyone seen a number like 2.2 on their speedo dislay?

I see what you are saying, the only interface between the headlight stuff that I have replaced and the dashboard module is the white wire, that turns the blue light and the high beam indicator on and off in the dashboard. I'm gonna cut that wire to the dashboard and see if that cures the apparent surge of something that is re-booting the dashboard when I turn the high beam off. I can do without the high beam indicator, if I get to keep my tripometer from resetting..

It looks like it worked! HUSKYnXJnWI to the rescue again! I cut the White wire leading into the speedo/dashboard and I can now switch between Low and High, High and Low all I want to and my speedo/dashboard does not blank out and reset! Thanks man, I owe ya one!
