    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Just Got New Te 630.. Need Advice.

Folks,

Just picked up a new te 630 and need some advice. I have heard stories of nuts/bolts coming loose and that I should use threadlocker. Can somebody tell me which nuts etc are prone to coming loose and need the threadlocker?.. good descriptions needed for me to understand.. somewhat challenged when it comes to finding parts!!.. pics would be very helpful for what is what!!.. thanks for any help.:)
 
Really the best way to get acclimated to your new machine is to take a lil time.. Maybe a lil less than an hour with tank on to check the snugness of everything, front to back. Maybe a lil more than an hour if you take the tank off and get those under there, upper motor mount etc. Take your time, enjoy it.. :)

ohh. and yes. LOtite the sprocket bolts. Never came loose with it for me, and still have no problem busting them loose for sprocket changes.

Good idea to check tightness of the two Ignition key screws also. Better you remove, add some "222" Loctite or similar and refit. Important to use the correct torque values all the bolts/screws etc.

Hope you enjoy your bike as much as I do mine, great machines.

I've had bad luck with the left side subframe bolt. Even with blue loctite they just keep vibrating loose. ymmv.

Offtopic: check your chain guide tabs that are welded to the swingarm. Are they inline with your chain? I just checked mine today for the first time while installing a guide and it was way off. Had to use three washers to compensate.

The blue stuff is a low strength locker. Try the red 263 never come loose till you die maybe even longer thread locker.
 
all the things mentioned above were loose, the spokes were also very loose on my bike

Okay, guess it's time to try the red stuff. Hopefully I won't need to unbolt it in the future. thanks!

Same here, only thing that's worked loose in 1100 miles was the lower, longer of the two bolts holding the front sprocket cover and case protector on. It disappeared at about 600 miles, and I replaced it with a new one from the parts bin at the local dealer.
 
  1. Foot peg bracket bolts. Remove and locktite. Blue okay.
  2. Change the oil sooner rather than later. Then do the full service at 1000 mi.
  3. Set race sag, will handle better all around and eliminates any headshake at speed.
  4. Check suspension settings, set to factory clicks to start.
  5. Install a skid and guards for any off pavement riding.
  6. Check headlight aim before you have to ride anywhere in the dark - mine was WAY too high. Front number plate pops off to access adjust screw. Point the bike at your garage door, adjust, road test. ;)

That's all I can think of right off.

Dropped my oil yesterday at 152 miles. I was rather surprised at how dirty it was - dark and muddy. Lots of suspended solids. Magnet on drain plug was thick with metallic dust.

Will do the filter and screens at 600 miles. Then I can FINALLY twist the throttle and see what this beast can really do!
 
Yeah, I saw the same thing at 220. Was glad I changed it. And it's easy to do!
I figure I can get to 1000 miles now, do the valve check, filters including the inside screen, and switch to full synthetic.
