• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Just purchased a 2012 -SMS630 "did I make a mistake"

SM630NZ

Husqvarna
Just purchased a 2012 SMS630 with 1080k on the clock and it stalls at intersections runs rough at low revs surging etc. Now I am spending money on FMF Q4 muffler - looks like I will also have to get a PU kit and powercommander V & remove the airbox baffle. (did I miss anthing). Anyway wish I had read these forums before buying this bike.

The only mistake you made was expecting a bike to be perfect from the floor. All bikes need a bit of tinkering to get just right.

When I purchased my TE610 it behaved just like that - stalling at intersections, and surging at low RPM. Then I realized I had knocked the cold start lever open during the move (its the small lever next to the clutch). Once I closed it, everything ran perfect. It could well be a different story here, but its worth checking...

As time goes on, it continually occurs to me that you did not make a mistake - I did. Certain aspects about the bikes should be concise & easy to find via search engines on this site as opposed to digging through a whole lottta discussions (threads) like this one. Ironically that is the original reason for this site to exist in the first place.

I Need to do better...

Thanks - I'll check into that.

Thanks Coffee (I think) I have searched your site and I had put together a list of things to buy to fix my problems possibly. I did want to understanding if this bike model was a good purchase. (some models are better than others). I've been a Honda owner for the last 10 years and had a good run with them. Anyway this looks like you have a good site here and real helpful members. Cheers.

For about $50 you can solve the problem. Purchase the power up kit and remove the airbox baffle. I did this to my girlfriends and just rode her SM630 the other day and nailed 100 mph on GPS with no performance issues what so ever.

If you do use the site correctly ... you´ve definitely made a substantial profit as you now own ... the last real Husky.

It's a removable plastic baffle that goes behind the filter. Someone prob removed yours already.
