• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Kellys ongoing goofy thread...

I like to tread lightly as well. Even running a trials tire these days. But in all honestly most this is done in country no one really uses or cares about and left for a few years would be all covered in foliage again and forgot. For the record I don't do any of that 4 wheel stuff at all.

I love horsepower as much as (more than!) the next guy, but the complete lack of finesse with those things is insane. Just pin it and bounce around until it hooks, I guess?

I used to be way into fast cars and trucks, but once you get the flow going on a bike through the trees, sitting in a seat holding a steering wheel seems lame. I've never done a wheelie in a car; I did about 100 of them in 50 miles of enduro trail this weekend.

Several of those crawlers moon scaped a local riding area and contributed heavily to it being shut down. The vegetation does grow back if given a chance. We lost some good techincal single track that had been around for 50 years. I do not have any use for them and think they should be used closed course only.

Yeah I rode Reiter a few times. Sucks it is gone. There were lots of goons there. All that could have been regulated out or into one specific area. Here in the Tillamook burn there are designated 4wd areas which used to be trails that got wider and wider with quads until jeeps could make it through. Instead of closing it they embraced it and made it a 4wd area which is great and keeps them off most the other trails. They are doing a fantastic job of managing it here. Lots of 4wd, quad and single track all designated and for the most part works fine.

BTW i was just posting a crazy vid, did not mean I was endorsing this activity but is fun to watch the crazy vid.
