• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

kneebraces, whats the lowdown on them?

right on i imagine the braces make you posture unlike your used to and make you totally uncomfortable till you get used to them. not sure if i need all the stuff just tryin to make sure i can pay my taxes weekly hahaha and no booze for me i felt i was takin away from the supply of all my buddies out there so i decided to let yall have my share  pretty much sounds like the same prep as back in football witht he hydration and pasta!!

I've been under the knife over the years. I was able to get a perscription for a knee brace from my doctor and my insurance was fronting most of the bill. I went with a CTi for their custom mold to you and for their customer support.

The CTi rep came to my job to take measurements of my knee and leg and tells me he will call me back next week. Sure enough, he comes back to my job with my custom brace, double check the fitment and I give him my co-pay. This was 11 years ago and the brace still works excellent, minus the light wear and tear from 50k+ miles of riding.

The CTi brace looks like my DonJoy brace but the pics I see don't show any armor. Do you have armor on your brace? If I could retrofit armor on my DonJoy brace I would be stoked.

The only brace armor on the brace are the two plastic caps that fit over the hinges on each side. They are screwed in with a couple of small recessed allen bolts. I purchased the knee cup that fits around both hinges with 2 small hoops.

I just got a Don Joy brace, and they DO have a patella guard add-on (knee cup). They are $65. Check out Don Joy's web site. You might even be able to source from eBay.

got the evs webs this morning and gave them a good 3 1/2hours worth usage shortly after. initially i thought they were huge, and they are kinda long and somewhat bulk. kind uncomfortable when i got them on but got to say my legs dont hurt from them at all. like i said they are kinda long and bulk wich makes them somewhat of a pain to get into the pants and i had to loosen my boots up abit to get them to close properly. all in all i give em the thumbs up and glad i got some now. i purchased soem thigh high evs riding socks to wear under them and id definatly recomend that.

Any brace will feel completely un-natural and uncomfortable for the first couple rides. I almost returned my Asterisk braces after the first ride. Now, I can't even tell I'm wearing them and I'd never ride on the dirt without them.

Am just recuperating from my last street "off". Kneecap scraped down to the bone and - of course - no knee protection. No fool like an old fool (76).

while they were kinda uncomfy at first they really werent as bad as what i was thinking theyd be by soem of the stories goin round lol check some out if ya havent already.

I've got the Thor Force guards that are wore out and can't decide what to replace them with. It seems you go from $100 a pair to $350 ea with not much in between. Thanks for all your guys input...

i hear ya on that, i wanted something that i wasnt goin to have to replace soon and something that i would have some confidence in while riding. i definatly didnt want a $100 set but 700 is really a lil high even though i was on teh verge of gettin some of the new asterisks soon if i hadnt seen the evs webs on ebay
