• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC KYB forks on husky instead of 4CS

I rode 2014 TE250 again today and thought that 4CS forks were not bad.. but they deflected lot more than KYB and harsher feeling on same trails..

in any case,
thanks for the feedback.. I will just ride the 125 and see how it's.. but since I already have set of yamaha KYB forks..it would be a nice option.

Rode 125 finally in the rocks...

Love the bike, power is good, handling is good. Light weight is awesome...

Forks...SUCK!

Well.. Not that bad, top of the stroke is nice and plush but mid is bit too harsh and does not absorb rocks and roots well

I think I can play more with clickers, but my beta KYB forks are much much better

I made up some adaptors and fitted some SSS carts to my 4CS legs

Just got back from a 90km ride, most fast pace hard pack fire trail with some mixed loose rocky riding next to a train line (2" rocks), no single trail but a few G outs and smallish jumps.
Initially I started at 12 comp and 12 rebound and ended up around 8 or 9 rebound and probably 16 comp. I would have liked to have more of a play but lost my little screw driver somewhere on the trails....

I was really happy with my 4CS forks previously with the G2r gold valves and RT base adjusters , they were nice and plush (soft) but held up in the stroke but sometimes flat landings would bottom them and they would get harsh but LS stuff they were fantastic and just floated over stuff. I also occasionally got a numb right hand.

The SSS are a lot firmer than the 4CS setup, i had to keep backing out the comp to get them to start using more of the stroke, i ended up using all but 15mm and they never felt harsh, I was really amazed with how subtle the bottoming was and even how well they soaked up sharp edge hits at pace. I felt they did this a lot better than my 4CS forks. I did put a 1.2mm bleed hole in the bottom on the 60mm bottoming cup to help fluid return and also escape when the cone enters the cup.

Rebound felt great, front end traction was really good, even in the dry skittish rocks.

handling didn't feel as good, it was harder to turn so I might play with how far the forks sit in the triple clamps, currently they the top hex nut is sitting just above the clamp.

as i mentioned above they are definitely firmer but never harsh and performed better as I went faster and towards the end of the day I was smashing into sharp edge rocks with no deflection or harsh bottoming at all. I will pull them down again as I wanted to make a small change to the mid and I might also move my crossover up a little to soften the LS.

Overall I'm very happy with the conversion, i'm pretty sure the adaptors i made haven't leaked but need to check and also make sure they allow the fork to come apart easily rather than just spinning. I was worried about how low the rebound adjuster hung but even in the rocks today they didn't get hit. I can see they have some potential to work really well and understand the stigma behind SSS forks.

Hi all,

As I am waiting to take possession of my new TE125 .. I am reading all those scary 4CS posts...

Has anyone been successful in installing KYB SSS forks on husky/Ktm?

I ended up doing KyB forks on my beta 300 and very happy with the results.

I used TBT RACING adaptor kit to fit WP lugs onto KYB forks , thereby keeping Brembo brakes and standard front wheel.
AMAZING difference
