• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Leaked a bit of engine oil

The countershaft sprocket leak is common on these bikes, including mine. Andy at HVA-factory came up with this solution that seals it without bearing replacement. But shipping from UK is steep for us in the USA. You can find them on HVA-factory.com if interested.

A bit like this then ...

This is the first prototype! I have ordered some seals to fit between the 30 diameter of the sleeve and the bore of the cover plate. The O-ring sits in the small recess and against the bearing to stop the leak....

That's awesome. Thanks for the assist.

I have a 96 Land Rover so I'm used to leaks, but I don't like them.

I always wanted to restore an older Harley to test the new silicones of today to stop leakages. Just to prove it's possible. Even the older early 1900's bikes get my heart pumping.

When I worked for AMC JEEP as a mechanic the customer asked me if all the leakage under his new CJ 5 was normal. The head mechanic ran over and called it running seapage before I could say the truth. For the rest of the time I worked there the new buzz word was, "running seapage". Again oil leaks are unacceptable.

There's no seal on the four bolt bracket to the sleeve. I just silicone the bracket to the case, then silicone the splines on the sleeve.

I had a oil leak on a Suzuki TS 185 test me. I put in a new shifter shaft seal and she still leaked. I found a burr from a pair of vise grips or pliers on the shaft. Every time a new seal was installed the burr cut the seal. After some filing problem solved.
