    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Looking for Advice on Power-up

well bought the gear i need for my DIY power up, total cost $5.40!!

still a little cautious about doing it with the stock pipe. is there any possibilty it could have any issues??

I ride with PU kit and stock pipes on my 630 for 2 or 3 months. No problems at all.
 
well if you are wondering if this is a good move.... do it!!

bike is heaps better. i cannot believe how restricted the stock pipe was! couldnt find any exhust shop open today so pretty much just gutted the pipe. thought it was going to be really loud but is not too bad. bike is idling higher now but i will adjust that tomorrow (if i can find out how).

total cost for the day, $5.40!!
 
could anyone tell me where the idle screw is on the 2009 model? the manual i have shows it a bit different than my bike (i think it is for a 2008).

I know it! I miss being able to turn a thumbscrew with my fingers while sitting at a stoplight on my ZX-10R.
 
so, am i likely to get ant more improvements with a leovince pipe over the gutted stock one? thinking maybe i should use my pipe funds to buy a damper.

I don't see the need for a steering damper. Any headshake I've had has been due to poor rider input (mainly being to heavy-handed on the bars) and poor suspension setup.

Other than massive weight savings, the performance gains I've seen for a pipe have been pretty minimal. I did mine for the weight savings alone. I wasn't concerned about sound or performance.

I just installed the leo vince full system. I haven't richened the fueling up yet, but now it sounds like a proper dirt bike. As for performance, it is definitely faster! The best way to describe it is that the revs raise a lot faster ie you are going faster sooner. My bike does pop on deceleration so you will probably have richen up your fueling as well although the leo vince rep said I don't HAVE to.

You also lose 15 lbs.

Gutting your own will be at the most maybe $60?
Is the Leo 5 times better then the DIY?

I did the power-up kit first on my '09 and kept the stock muffler for 6 months. I noticed the power up kit helped the midrange and top end a little. It was a noticeable improvement but I could tell that the power was still flattening out too soon.

Now with the Leo Vince Enduro muffler, the bike pulls hard all the way from bottom to top. The top end is fantastic. Huge improvement! With the screen insert and enduro baffle, the Leo is quieter than the stock muffler and has a much more pleasant tone. Runs better and is quieter - never had that happen with an exhaust mod before. I'm really impressed with Leo Vince.
 
Single. I have the TE610.

I was dissapointed in the mileage change at first until I realized the problem was more in my right wrist. The bike is so much more fun to rev out, I was doing it all the time, resulting in 40 mpg. Last weekend we slowed down and kept our cruise to 55 and below. 52 mpg, and that even included some deep sand and gravel. So I believe it's possible to get 55 mpg even with the power up and Leo if you try.
 
I get 40 mpg with the power up. Don't know yet if the Leo will decrease my mpg but yeah that's 40 mpg and I like to twist the throttle :D
