• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Was about to pull the trigger on some SG 10's, but after reading reviews it seems they are heavy and some reviews state they aren't as protective as one would hope. I have wide feet, so Sidi's are out of the equation.

I currently have some Oxtar TCX 'sboots I got on closeout for $100 and they're great, but cant find any more on closeout and I'd like to try something new. What do you like?

Don't put too much emphasis on reviews, they are simply an extremely rough guide. Everyone needs to decide for themselves what works best for them.

SG10's were my second choice, but I bought Sidi Crossfires instead. After breaking my leg in 2006 I decided the highest priority I had for a boot was to be able to get it off easily - like when the ER nurses are trying to take off the boot. Luckily no further medical issues since then.

In my humble opinion: The performance/protection of the Sidi Crossfires type of step in boot depends greatly on how the straps are adjusted. Too loose around the ankle area, and little protection.

That is just my 2 cents... :)

Atomic moto in Bend has the Forma's which is the latest version of the Tcx's if you are happy with them

I do like the TCX's (especially for $100), but the Forma's are more expensive than the SG 10's through RM and I'm wanting to try something different. I hear nothing but good things about Sidi's, but that they have a narrow toe box and I have fat feet.

I'm going to run down to the local big box dealer here in a few and see what they have available. Thanks for the input boys!

I have SG10's. Most comfortable boots I have tried. I have narrow flat feet through. Gotta used insoles so my feet don't bounce around inside.

I just got some SG 10s and they are soo comfortable. My feet are wide too so the Crossfires were out. The Motosport Website had them for 50$ less and they gave me the same price at the store in Hillsboro.

I tired on some Astars Tech 7's, Sidi Crossfires and Gearne SG 12's (they didn't have the SG 10's).
I did not care for the Tech 7 due to no ankle flex and all-around stiff feeling. I could barely get my foot into the Sidi's, which is too bad cause they were very nice. The SG 12's fit like a glove and were very comfortable. Protection seemed good on all 3.

I'm going to bite the bullet and order some SG 10's. I wear an 11.5 street shoe and needed a size 12 Gearne to fit properly....FYI

I have 11.5 EEE feet and have the sidi corssfire. I really like them and they are very comfortable. They are a half size larger, size 12, and broke in very quickly.

Gaerne's or TCX will be my next boot.
I currently have some 661s, comfortable now, after having them worked on by Ski Chalet.
No matter how comfortable they are when you are "trying them on", the true fit is how they feel when riding, and have had them on for a bit.

My Sidi Crossfires seemed narrow at first, then after a few minutes they felt less narrow. Feels like 'memory' foam they use on high end mattresses, at least that is the best way I can describe it.

SG12's all day long for me. Top notch quality and I have 1.5 yrs of hard use on mine and they are starting to show wear. I had to replace the razorbacks at the one year mark. I raced 15 races last year and rode nearly every weekend in between so they havr plenty of miles and hours of use. I have a second set just waiting to be put into service.

I did try a pair of astar tech 8's for about 30 minutes. Hated the feel and sold them immediately.

I have SG12s. My only complaint is they squeak. They are awesome boots. I know half a dozen people with SG10s and they love them as well.

My TCX's squeak too. Its the hinged ankle and its flipping loud!

I just ordered the SG10's. $287.99 shipped from Rocky Mountain(got a 10% off code from a guy on TT ).
If anyone is doing a Rocky Mountain anytime soon then let me know and I'll give you my next 10% off coupon as I wont be buying from them for a while.

I forgot about that! I just consider that my "warning alarm" for the competition!:D I also forgot to add that my daughter has 2 pair of SG10's also and loves them both, but will be moving to 12's for racing next season.

It's hard to go wrong with Gaerne's and Sidi's...but recenetly we have been using the JETT boots and love them. Super light, really comfy and durable as hell. They have some great features such as replaceable buckles and a replaceable sole/shank that takes about 2 minutes to replace. Best boots IMHO...

Gaerne's were my first choice, Sidi's my last. I bought Sidi Crossfires. After stepping into every boot I could find on mother earth, the crossfires fit the best and are a perfect extension of my feet. Try on as many as you can, buy what feels right, remember you will be riding in them for hours!

i've had the gaerne's for years, my last pair were the SG-1's. great boot. i just bought a new pair and have a few pinch point that will go away. i ordered a size down from a 13 to a 12 and almost wish i went with 11 1/2's.

ARC makes a pretty boot for < $100.00 at regular cost.. Much better than the oneil element boots I used in the past that are priced about the same ...

I rode 2 years with Oneal elements as I was a bit in a squeeze money wise (2 kids going to school) but last year I made the upgrade to the SIDI crossfires

a bit on the tight side in the first ride but afterwards a perfect fit and in comparison with the Oneals it feels like I am glued on the pegs

really the money worth in my opinion.
