• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Looking to buy a Lectron for the 86

it has two cams, you just flip the throttle sleeve over. one is very fast , about 68 degrees for motocross. the other is enduro, which is a slower. the husky gunnar gasser is super slow, like 110 degrees close to open. i like it sped up a bit faster.
the slower cam on the magura is perfect for me, and is just quick enough to avoid regripping the throttle. i like the gunnar throttles but are just too slow.

Hey guys
Going down hills and loaded up with fuel will not be an issue after the swap???
Thanks

I bought one on faith that loading will not be an issue. Loading up is my bike's biggest issue.
As was said above and others have said too, the Lectron runs clean and just works differently.
I will let you know how mine works.

Justin i guess this would be a good throttle to buy maybe, comes with cable also for 36 bucks.

Its new

Whirlpool Throttle Kit. Magura 314 Duo. Reinforced Poly housing. Seals well against mud and water. Has 1/4 turn setting as well as half turn. Fits 7/8" handlebars. Use on all 32-38mm Mikuni Round Slide or Flatslide Carbs as well as Delloroto, Lectron 34-40mm. This is great for your Vintage or Evo Racer. Comes with 40" throttle cable. Has the mid adjuster.

the 314 works like mine, the only thing i dont like about them is that they are all plastic. i believe the ones i use are the 312, no longer made by magura.. venhill makes a clone of the 312 still i believe. the price on the 314 certainly isnt bad.

looks like its called the 600a by venhill, and its billet instead of cast like the original.....sadly venhill USA only stocks a fraction of what the uk parent company has. those new ones look sweet! 68 and 80 degree throttle rotation. the 80 degree is sweet, i think its all i will run.
looks like the 314 they sell is 103/91 degree rotations...im betting the gunnar gasser husky throttle is about 100, maybe more?

The 314 its cheap enough to give it a whirl.. lol
Got the carb dimensions handy to order a Lectron with?
The bike is in the shed with a snow drift on the door, don't feel like pulling out a cold bike. :notworthy:

Thanks

i could measure a vm38 mikuni for a single shock if thats what you are after tomorrow. lectron will machine one up with adapters to be pretty close so stock boots are used.

all lectrons ive seen have the choke on the right attached to a push/pull cable.
older ones however had a setup similar to the vm with the long lever. i will be asking if this is still possible when ordering or even as a retrofit.
as you know the 250 and 400/430 have the same carb and intake boots, but the jug is bigger on the big bores. on my 250 the carb fits perfect in the boots but on the bigger ones the carb is pushed into the airbox boot a good ways. if this carb is only to be used on the big boys, im tempted myself to cheat the flanges together a bit. the single shock backbone doesnt leave much wiggle room. a lectron can be made very thin, much thinner than needed for this app.

Thank you!
Well i cut my air box boot a little, was in the way when messing with jets.
I tried some smaller pilot jets when i went to the 430 and was a pain dealing with the extra boot

ive thought about doing the same, i guess husky didnt feel like having 2 boots

Lectron charges an additional $50 to Custom Machine a new Carb and they can make both ends just about any size You might want. However there Stock sizes are probably very close to what You have now, and there might not be any need for any Custom work done. A lever Choke kit is available. Its only real purpose is to switch the side that You reach the Choke.

or if you do not like the push pull cable setup. i would really like the lever setup actuated from the left side, and would like to retrofit my 95 360 to this as well.

Thanks, but i have a new one on the way.
good luck with the sale. ;)
Maybe when i try mine out in spring i might want another lol

Some parts are in and I got the bike in the garage.

Choke might be a bitch to use, sure hope it runs like never before lol

I am looking forward to hearing how you like it, can you ride now or are you under snow?

boy, you have one of those four tooth sprockets, those are scarce!

Your ride videos are fun, I about fall out of my chair when those trees go flying by...keep them coming please..

nice...the cable mount choke may be of interest..its about 4 inches long. did you inquire about using the mikuni lever? did it fit well with those dimensions?

love the polished airbell and taperbore on the tron
