  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Looking to learn more about my ‘05 TE450

Husqvarna
Hi everyone, I have a ‘05 TE450 and I’m just looking to learn more about it from fellow Husky owners. I’ve had it for about 4 years and it’s currently sitting with a blown top end while I try to make money to get the parts. It’s a little rough at the moment as it’s been sitting for a bit lol. I’ve researched a fair bit about the bike but I’d love to hear anything you guys have to say or know about the bike or similar models. I’ll attach some pics of the bike and a picture of it now.
Thanks everyone324.jpeg225.jpeg223.jpeg1092.jpeg

You really won’t know what you need until you take it apart. You are on the right track saving some money before hand. There are some aftermarket parts that can save you money. The cylinder can be re-plated and the crank can be rebuilt. The cylinder head can be repaired as well. Please ask and I can help you save some money.

I bought a 2005 TE450 with a season of GNCC racing and National Enduro time on it.
I raced hare scrambles on it.
Rode it for two more years before I sold it to a guy for a trail bike.
Bike was flawless.
I'd check the nylon radiator tee under the tank. Changed it to a metal Y as that part was known to fail.
Timing chain tensioner on an 06 TE250 I had went bad so I did switch the 450 to a manual tensioner.

Thanks for your responses guys, I’ve been browsing around just to see what parts are still being made for this bike. I haven’t gotten the head off yet to look at everything because the swing arm pivot won’t budge no matter what I hit it with; I’m gonna just cut it out with a sawzall and replace it. From what I can see I might need to get the cylinder re-plated, definitely needs a piston kit and I’m just hoping at the moment that the crank and valves are all in spec. I’ll definitely be replacing the nylon part under the tank along with the tensioner and cam chain and such. I’m unsure of the age of the internals, I put about 100 decently hard hours on it and the previous owner said it had “3 hours since it got rebuilt” when I got it which I don’t believe at all.
