• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Loss of power and rough idle

Chillybean

Husqvarna
AA Class
While riding home from work my SMS 630 started to run poorly, Idle speed has dropped from 1800 rpm to around 1400 rpm and a huge loss of power, struggles to get the front wheel off the ground in first gear:cry:. It starts fine and is not making any unusual noises. It's a stock bike except for the basic PU kit and only has done 1000km.

Where do I start?

A few possibilities, in order of likelihood:

-bad gas
-dirty air filter
-bad spark plug/wire/coil
-bad fuel pump
-bad throttle body

If the temp sensor goes bad, you usually have trouble starting it.
Does the fan run more than normal?

Called my local dealer today and explained the symptoms, he suspects low fuel pressure, goes in for him to look at tomorrow. Will let you know the outcome an if it's covered by warranty.

Found out today it was a bad fuel pump. The pump was making just enough pressure for it to start then run like crap. Still waiting to see if it will be covered by warranty.

I think yours is the first 630 pump failure I've heard of. Do you have ethanol in your fuel in Aus?

It was a little work, but I added a fuel pressure gauge under the speedo and a led hooked to the pump wires on top of the speedo.

We do have ethanol but I refuse to use it. I only run premium 98 octane fuel. I work for the petroleum industry servicing pumps and other stuff, definitely not a fuel contamination issue as I always pay extra attention to which sites do have issues and never fill up there.
