  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

lowering a new 310 te, can it be done

Want to buy a new husky 310te but I am height challenged. Husky dealer said that the new Kayaba forks that come with this bike cannot be lowered because they are closed cartridge. Is this true and if so are there any work arounds?

Yes, it's not a problem. I have done many closed cartridge lowering jobs. It's the same as doing an open bath cartridge.

That dealer is full of poop. I'd shop elsewhere.

It might be possible (because they need to be opened up anyway) to get the suspension adjusted for your weight & riding style for about the same cost since they are in there anyway... and of course to do things right front & back would both need to be lowered... If it were me I would try to find a suspension shop whos work you liked and not be limited by geography.

Is it possible that you asked the dealer if it was quick & cheap to get the forks lowered and then plan on using a Kuba link? If that is what you want then the answer is no, closed or open forks cannot be lowered quick and cheap - they actually need to take them apart, and that takes a bit of time.

Quick and easy is not necessary. I don't mind spending the money on a suspension shop to do the job right. Trailtricks up in Frasier Park has a good reputation and said he could do it. Thanks for all who replied.
