• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Lynx Fairing for the Husky

Dunno yet.....I'm still waiting on my Lynx to arrive.

I was hoping to put the instrument/gauge display up a little higher to make it easier to see but now that I've got everything apart, I don't think I have enough slack in the loom to mount it high.

I thought the same thing, but after trying it in a couple of positions, I decided lower was easily viewable because the brake cable cleared it better. But that was in the day - before I realized the angle issue with the backlit display. If it was higher up on the dashboard I think that could lessen the angle, but I'm not sure.

The sharp cutoff is the way to go on the road but in the woods you definitely need to run both lights. When the suspension dives you're left with little light using only the low beam. On a dark forest road I could easily see 100 yards with both. My only regret with the lights is the fairing doesn't come with any kind of lense protection so I'll have to make something since I've broken every glass lens I've ever owned.

Have any of you used helmet lights? They make a huge difference as you see where you look not where the bike is pointing! I use a Cyclops Halogen and it transformed riding in the dark. Great for desert trails as you can look around for tracks off to the side!
Twinned with great headlights they make a perfect lighting setup.

My Lynx arrived today so I'm shifting my attention to it.

I'm getting the Japanese "commutator" (left side control - p/n 8000 5974A, MY 06 manual), the one that allows you to turn off the headlight.

My question is:

Does the parking light bulb stay on or turn off if I have the headlight switch in the off position?

I want to be able to use the parking bulb wire as a switched hot source but want it hot without having to turn my Lynx lights on.
