• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

There is three lines on the 08 50mm twin chamber forks on the TXC... I am not sure about the single chamber 50mm on the TE or the older 45mm forks.

Here is mine set at 2-1/2 lines... The third line is just below the top triple clamp.

Later,

And for reference I am running mine the equivalent of one line higher in the clamp. All three lines showing plus a half way to a 4th line (which is not there). So 3.5 lines. I know this is over the limit but man it sticks like glue in the tight stuff and I notice no head shake in faster whoops. I did not do any 4-6 gear stuff though and i am running a stabilizer.

Is there more than two lines? Mine is currently on the second line. Doesn't look like a third line exists?

Thanx!

My 07 has 3 lines in the gold.. I think thats all there is :excuseme:

FWIW:

I've run my '07 TC (diff fork?):

Cap/parting line on top of tube fush w/ top of clamp: really loagy.

First groove at top of clamp: heard this is normal setting- and it works ok.

Second groove at top of clamp: Turns well and is a good trade off between handling and stability. Watch it though, Tank-slappers suck.

Inbetween first and second groove is fine for me under most condtitions. If it's gonna be uber tight I'll run it on the second groove. Note the word GROOVE.

Always re-check yer race sag too!

Ok, It appears I have " Grooves/Lines" on my Forks..Ye ha. So what do they do..Up verses down? Am i correct in deducing that lowering Speeds up response to input? My bike "works fairly well in most instances as is, after a few "fiddles" with the clickers. Occasionally i adjust them , depending on what strata we go to ride on. generally my rebound is "off" 2 and Comp. is "On" 2..from factory. I've backed out the rear preload and believe the rear gas setup does nothing much noticable?..Thanks

raised the forks tonight... If I count the top I see 3 lines.. If not counting the top as a line I see 2 lines in the gold and it's lined up on the line below...

So for semantics... am I technically running 2 lines ?

Im pretty sure it's sitting on the last alignment line (it didn't look like there were any others below it... So Kelly it sounds like your above the last or third line ?

Sorry for the questions just trying to make it turn a little better yet still be stable for Dez riding this winter :)

Took it out to the Dez yesterday with some friends... Stable yet turned so much better... Thanks for bring this to our attention Kelly !! Thats why I love this place you learn so much and everyone is willing to help

No problem bro

Amazing the difference suspension clickers, sag and fork height can make on a bike. Max performance depends on it and learning to adjust them for different ride areas can make all the difference.
