  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

mineral clutch fluid ?

Funny, in 04-05 when my slave failed on my 04 TE450 and I used some alternate stuff people flamed the crap out of me. Times they are a changing.

I use Motorex mineral oil made for hydraulic clutches that I got at a KTM dealer. Seems to work fine. The master cylinder doesn't take a lot.

I went to a bicycle store and bought a quart of blue magura blood for $15 - then went to NAPA and bought a little piece of fuel line for 1.50 ...and a syringe from drug store - the syringe was only 10ML capacity way too small - made the job really messy. Was glad to have extra mineral oil - got it everywhere...

I get a kick out of some people at the track who gladly spend $100's on stickers and flashy bling, but gripe about spending 20 bucks for a bottle of Magura that lasts months or years or 15 bucks for a liter of decent motor/tranny oil.

nice magura actually makes a bleed kit to service the clutch. And the instructions are good for the operation.

PS I will no longer state/argue my preference for Magura blood as the OEM specified Hyd fluid, yall use what you want R will continue to use the OEM stuff.

Look on the bright side, if you use Walgreen's mineral oil in your clutch, and you get constipated mid way through a Hare Scramble, you can pop the reservoir cap, scoop out a teaspoon full, drink it and be "regular" before the race ends!
