• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Mirrors Gone

Husqvarna
A Class
Couldn't find a set of mirrors I liked so I went with this this, when not in GPS mode it is a rear view display.

I may have missed it somewhere but what bars are you running? I assume the stock risers and all?
That's a pretty cool set up with the cam...reminiscent of the soccer mom back up cams haha.

With the stock mirrors gone completely you'll probably see an extra 10MPG! Not to mention you'll get an immediate indication if your rear fender breaks.

So ...does it have the same stalk..or indicator that the Husqvarna has?

I thought I'd screwed mine up...but they all seem sorta cross threaded from the factory. Screwed mine in to what I thought was about right..not too tight ..but next time I tried to unscrew...it was a pain. Had to use a tool to loosen?.shouldnt have to do that IMHO. Maybe I'm just old and weak.

That is great May I ask what GPS is that & mounting set up do you have model # to keep it simple for me Thank you ahead of time

It's a peak PKCOPB I'm using a wide angle camera, the display has grid overlays so you can judge distances, similar to the display on a F-14 Tomcat when landing on a carrier at night.

Wadejesu...High marks for an awesome and creative mod. Any pics. of the bike with out the mirrors for us lacking imagination. My backup cam on my f-150 get dirty easier than I would like, but where you mounted that It might work better. My bike will be delivered to me tomorrow and I am already going to order that cam/gps. I assume it works well in action. (vibration/mud etc.)

Sounds like we just need to buy that oil cap and fabricate a dip stick for it. Maybe bond it in, or make it from aluminum and TIG it on. That wouldn't help the anodizing I guess. I bet JB Weld would do the trick. When I had my bike serviced in CO the mechanic had a dickens of a time getting the filler threads started, so it's not just us. Gotta fix this.
