• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

MOSS Tool works awesome.

Well after spending the day @ Bentley Motorrad in Kelowna in Canada today...getting the Moss update from a BMW dealer up here in Canada is a bust. :banghead: Post#64
To bad... they were really nice guys too.:excuseme:
I guess the next place to try is across the border to our Southern Brethren.
Let me know Daniel.
My bike runs pretty good so I'm not that worried.

But maybe a road trip is in order.

Can you elaborate on how it was a bust? Did the BMW dealer try and not be able to do it?

I just picked up a Strada today at Long Beach BMW, and the GM toured me around their service area (3 times as big as their sales floor). He showed me the computer tool they use for both BMWs and Huskies (they have two of them), and said all the Husky VINs are loaded in. Service would continue into the future. Also told me as I purchased a bike from them they would give me a loaner when I bring the Strada in for service. Pretty good treatment for a $7,300 OTD bike (includes our high sales tax and fees). Oh, and they have a lightly used Terra I took for a 20 minute solo demo ride. Super folks to deal with.

This is for Canada right.
I don't think you guys will have any troubles.
I took my bike in to the BMW shop they hooked up the moss and it did not recognize my VIN number. That's as far as they got...
I contacted them a week ago saying there seems to be a issue with the Moss recognizing TR VINs can we do anything before I come down.
They just said no bring it in and we'll see. 3hr ride down...waited around for a couple hrs for them to hook it up spent a couple minutes with it...said it doesn't work...and I came home.
Great day for a ride 315 miles round trip.

That Sucks HuskyDude! I hope you find a fix with less travel!!..I am going to be due for a first service soon. But after I deleted the EVAP and spark arrestors my bike stopped dieing and runs better, although it still seems lean and not exactly right..I am going to make sure the dealer has the moss functioning before i travel, the dealer is a BMW and Husqvarna dealer so hopefully they are in tune!..Time will tell what the Moss does after the first service.

Hi Guys, I am up for my 1000K service but live in Vancouver Canada... The place I purchased the bike from does not have the moss tool. My bike is cutting out constantly, once even on the highway at about 80km with a truck behind me... Is there anyone else that lives in Vancouver, BC, Canada that has had their bike serviced and "mossed" :) or does anyone know of a place in bellingham that has the mos tool..?

Tasky's Metric Cycle in Everett, Wa could help you I'm sure. Don't know about B'ham.

Cycle specialties in Modesto have the MOSS tool and had no problem with my request to reflash. I will update once it's done for the final outcome.
Had the 1000k service done and had the MOSS reflash. Bike runs much better and only died once but it was very cold. Runs like a raped ape now:applause:

Has anyone had to have the MOSS/flash re-done because the bike began stalling or not running right again?

Hey All,
First post here and I've been reading through the great information on the site. Test drove a Strada today and it definitely has not had the Moss update performed. Stalled and then the idle was stuck around 3k after a spirited ride. I loved everything else about the bike though. Did some of the bikes come with the proper mapping (bikes that shipped after a certain date)? I'm sorry if I missed that in another post here.

Not that I know of. Most run OK... some need the Update.
Booster plug does clean things up if you can't get it Mossed and are having trouble.

Oh and "Welcome Dr_Rock"

Just finished reading this thread all the way thru. I can't tell you how happy I am that my Husky dealer is also a BMW dealer!

Has anyone from the first batch of problem bikes taken them in for a remap with the MOSS tool? Krussell had a major problem that needed addressed and got it taken care of, but this question is for people with lesser issues of slower throttle response and off idle lag we experienced.

This may be too soon to ask since a lot of dealers, including mine, do not have the tool yet. BILLF has made it pretty clear it will make the issues go away, so the bikes really need to go back as soon as possible. My new Terra runs waaaaay better than the old one. No hesitations, no flat spots, and fast revving.

I guess I just want everyone to know that I know first hand it will make a huge improvement and it is well worth the time to take it in when your dealer is ready....That's all.:)

I have been doing the 3 minute warm-up, without touching the throttle for 3 minutes upon start-up. This cured the flat spot/almost stall situation from start-up, and stopping at the light. The 3 minute start-up seems weird, does the booster plug fix this?

I only know what I have read here and I would venture to say yes it would fix the issue, but hopefully someone who actually has a booster installed will chime in. Mine still runs very well in the stock form. Do you have to let it warm up for 3 min after every start or just first start of the day? If it is just the first start of the day, that doesn't seem too bad. I think I do that anyway while I am gearing up.
