• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Motosportz Damper + IMS tank - possible solution?

My exact bike is a 2008 TE510 with the IMS 3 gal tank, yes. I'd guess the same approach would work on other bikes ... could know for sure if someone sent me a TE610 with a big tank ... ;-)

Hi guys, am setting up my 09 TE510 to do the Condo 750 Rallye here in Aust in April. Have the 3 gal IMS tank and the Motosportz damper, would be really keen to get one of these adapters off u Jeffchri. Have to run the big tank, and not too keen on the 90mph+ speeds without the damper! This is my first post, looks like you have a great community going here! Will post some shots of the big Husky setup with the nav gear and blasting through desert after Easter!

Update: nothing earth-shaking to report ... I banged around on it on pavement for a few hours and it feels awesome. It is more snug on the "peg" than the stock Motosportz mount, so there's basically no play whatsoever ... but this can lead to other problems, so it might need to get loosened up a bit. I'll see how it wears.

I'm going to pull it temporarily and try to stuff it on a buddy's TE later this evening, just as test - I'm interested to see how much variation there is the relative position of the steering stock to fuel tank mounting post. I'm also interested in whether the notoriously broad tolerances on the IMS tank are going to cause any issues - though thankfully it doesn't matter at all how much the gap is between the actual tank and the steerer. It *does* matter if the tank height changes radically where the post mounts, however ... we'll see.

Is there any update on this part?

New update: the delrin version continues to do great, with little or no wear and rock-solid as it was on the day it was born. Lots of fast desert, some motocross track time, lots of rocky singletrack, and other stupid stuff - works great.

Next stage, buddy is going to churn out a small number for some local folks for testing - both in aluminum and delrin. Price looks like something between $65-100, depending on material, but that's not set yet.

Updates as I get them ...

sounds good, id be interested. looks like a good solution. I hope its more in the $65 range though. $100 is kinda steep for something like that. it would be expensive enough to buy the ims tank let along another $100 for that part.

Im loving the research and creativity. Keep it up!

Been working with Jeff on this. We will offer our Damper kits minus the frame clamp and stuff so the cost will be close to the same total.

I am in if this comes to fruition guys. Been off the grid for a while. Going to baja in a few weeks. Hate to do it without a stabilizer!
