• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Motoz X-Circuit tires... a short update

I have the same front MotoZ(Tractionator IT?) on my TE250 as the one pictured in the OP.

It now has about 1000 miles on it, all types of terrain incl. a total of ~ 150-200 miles of pavement/hard gravel.

It's holding up quite well except that in the last 150-200 miles, the side knobs have started chunking off. The center and mid-side knobs still look new.

I run about 12 psi all the time.

It works well in soft stuff and tracks thru soft sand amazingly well. Works very well in rutted conditions, as the side knobs just grab ahold and let the wheel go where it's pointed. Better than an S12 in my opinion.

Yeah, I am. Not sure if it has gotten better with age, or if I have just gotten used to it, but yeah, I like it much better now than at first. Good tire.

So does the tire behave wierdly when new? I've been running the Bridgestone 403/404 and they work really well in the CO rockies, but want to try some MotoZ tires next. Is there one that would work better in the rocks? Brad.

Riding style, gearing, air pressure, desired tread life... even the "kind" of rock you ride in may have a bearing on how well a tire works for you.

Motoz has these recommendations:

Terrain – Application:
  • H/T = Hard Terrain (gravel roads, rocky fire trails, hard pack
    desert and sand)
  • I/T = Intermediate and mixed Terrain
  • S/T = Soft terrain (loam, sandy loam, pine forest, clay)
  • I-H/T = Intermediate to Hard Terrain
  • I-S/T = Intermediate to Soft Terrain.
Tyre Construction - Heavy Duty - Medium Duty - Lite Weight.
Tractionator Series is very Heavy Duty and design for long wear
life.
Tyres in the Tractionator series have:
  • Super Heavy Duty ply construction
  • Puncture Resistant casing
  • Reinforced sidewalls
  • Large Rim Protector
  • 100% Natural Rubber Anti Chuncking Compounds.
Any tyre with the word Tractionator in its name is suitable for
harsh conditions like desert racing, multi day enduro or long
distance adventure riding. Tyres in the Tractionator series
include Tractionator (H/T), Tractionator Enduro (I/T) and
Tractionator X-Circuit (I-H/T). Tractionator Enduro S/T is in
development.

Tracula Series is Medium Heavy Duty and designed for natural terrain
circuits, Hare Scrambles endurocross and enduro sprints.
Tracula series have:
  • Puncture Resistant Casing
  • Reinforced Side Walls
  • Large Rim Protector.
  • Hybrid Natural / Synthetic compound.
Terrapactor Series is lite weight and designed for motorcross.
Terrapactor tyres have:
  • Light weight carcass.
  • Sidewall and footprnit with rigid and flex zones.
  • High Quality Hybrid Natural/Synthetic Compound.
  • Holeshot Magic.

Have fun with it,
C

I've always run an IT tire with UHD tubes around 14psi. I guess I'll try the Tracionator IT and see how she holds up in the decompsed granite and rocks we ride in NorCO. Brad.
