• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My bikes cremated...the end.

Sorry to see you have to go through that.....keep looking forward and get into another project as quickly as possibly, it will help get things back to normal, albeit a new normal.
We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Oh man!!! Been there, but it was the house, I don't have a garage.
If you are interested, and when you have a spot I can get you started again. I have a couple old yamaha 360 enduros. If there is anything left of the mx at all you might be able to use them for parts. Yours if you want them and I can deliver.

On Saturday the 25th of January, my garage caught fire and melted down everything inside as well as one car parked outside and one inside. And, to make matters even worse, it destroyed all three of my vintage MX bikes: 1973 Yamaha 360MX, 1983 Husky 500XC, and 1985 Husky 500CR, and my Harley Fatboy.View attachment 36931
What a royal pisser, to say the least.
Here's a picture of the carnage. In that pile of bike rubbish drug outside of the garage sits three fine would-be bikes. The one standing is the 360; both Huskys are on their sides with everything melted and/or burned off.

Looks like I'll be starting from scratch. Hopefully I run across someone around here that has a vintage bike or two for sale. Need to stay with it, ya know? But for now I've got more pressing concerns, as you can see.

Happened while I was away for a 30 minute store run. Suspected is the garage door opener.

sorry for the bad news, I had a major fire November 30 and my house is a wreck but my garage was pretty much unscathed, lost some things I don't care about but the ones I did were spared, guess I was blessedIMG_7015.JPGIMG_7116.JPG

that posting is so weird I don't know what happened
I did as I always did on adding files and it does not look the same as I have ever seen

Wow 2premo, that just sucks losing the house. I don't know which is worse....garages and possession or the house and possessions. Both really suck.

Thanks Geary. I may take you up on that. Luckily my brother has piles of Yamaha parts and he's already planning on some sort of bastardized 360MX that we can scab together. Jap parts are cheap and readily available....Huskys, not so. Either way, I need to save my coin for awhile, not knowing for sure whay my personal $$ outlay will end up being.

I have some descent plastics / tank / seat and some misc spare parts, that you are more than welcome to have. Although they did come off a 86 430ae and not exactly the same as the cr, it's a start.

My condolences. Always enjoyed your posts. Well now you can go and create another great Husky!

I know nothing can replace the time and effort. For all - I have added a side policy for my main bike against theft, fire, collision on trailer. for about 70 bucks a year

The character Jessie James says "if your bike is not right you just can't get your life right"

Give me your opinions. The bikes are still in a pile and have not yet been hauled away. The '83 500XC has been kicking my ass for years with not starting, so I guess I'm not too sad to see it go. But the '85 500CR I kinda liked a lot. I wonder if it's worth saving? Yeah, it's got the plastic stator cover and water pump cover (not anymore it doesn't!), so the stator is surely toast as well as the coil. The radiator seems to have survived, the top of the carburetor cap is melted but the carb itself looks ok, the rubber intake manifold is of course shot, all side covers/seat/fenders/air cleaner/grips/levers/cables - all shot. The forks: Who knows, probably new seals if not warped. And the rear shock: Who knows, probably lost the temper in the spring to say the least.

Should I keep this bike, or just say goodbye? It would probably cost a fraction of the rebuild cost to just buy another used one somewhere.

maybe just use it for internal engine parts...the jug should still be good....sucker got hot if that carb cap melted...i feel for you man...

I bought a bike for parts that was in a basement fire, & not even that close to the flame. It's amazing what a little heat will do to a bike. Not much was usable on that bike, so i'd bet most of your will be the same

430wr in parts, Bonny Lake craigslist. 360 parts are yours if you need them. Only cost to you is a beer or coffee depending on the time of day :)

Thanks bud, I'll keep you in mind this spring after everything has settled down and I can work up a plan of attack. Coffee sounds good; beer is even better and it's always noon somewhere in the world!

One of my goals as a property owner is to find a good agent that will guide you through the ins and outs of policies and get you coverage that you want and more mportantly, EXPECT. Like if you have an upstairs condo you want water damage coverage for the unit below in case your pipes leak into their structure. You almost have to walk someone around and ask all the right questions.

It can be a nightmare and a disappointment to go through. Sorry for the loss you had.
